Advent 2012 Oh Christmas Tree Tablescape

It was time for tradition.
It was time for the familiar.
It was time for Oh Christmas Tree, Spode that is.

A centerpiece of fir greenery, red lilies and white spider mums graces the center of the table.
Low enough to talk over.
Long enough to fill the space.

Oh Christmas tree.
These dishes have been part of our Christmas for 30 years.
They survived our house fire.
It's tradition.

Antique pressed glass candle holders on each end of the table.

Fitz and Floyd salt and peppers add a bit of whimsy to the table.

Spode wine glasses along with Mikasa water glasses.
I didn't want to take away from the gorgeous woven lace tablecloth.
It belonged to my husband's grandmother.

Love these butter spreaders.
They are of a quiet pattern and go well with most anything.

Spode's little mistletoe on each fork adds a lovely extra to the dinner ware.

My favorite Bordallo pitcher.
See the basketweave along the top?
And the lovely holly leaves and berries?

Bells hanging from the decked out chandelier add a lovely touch above eye level.

I used the Spode dinner plate, salad plate and the bread and butter plate.
No mixing here.
Simple.
Classic.

Vintage damask napkins monogrammed with a B.
Wrapped in the perfect red of the braided napkin holder.

I will continue posting daily through December 25th, but I know how busy everyone is, so I want to take this time to wish each of you the merriest of Christmases with dreams and wishes that come true. May we never forget the baby born in the manger for our salvation. Be blessed everyone!

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving your comments. You make my day!
I'm linking up to Cuisine Kathleen's Let's Dish on Wednesday evening and to  Susan's Tablescape Thursday.
See you there!

Honest to Pete...if this doesn't say "traditional" and "family" and "warm", I don't know what does!!! I never noticed the little mistletoe in the corner of the Spode forks...so cute! Hmmmmm....mistletoe. That's something I forgot this year. We need more kissin' around here! :-) This is absolutely beautiful, Marlis, and it makes me think of so many Christmases past...almost makes me cry. Wonderful job!

Beautiful Tablescape! Love the traditional and classic Spode Christmas Tree china on the family heirloom tablecloth. Your centerpiece is perfect for conversation on Christmas Day. The salt and pepper are the perfect addition for a holiday accessory. My husband, my mother(Mimi) and I will be heading to Lubbock for Christmas with our son! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your family, too!

Hi Marlis, I love this Spode pattern. I have been using it as our everyday dishes from Thanksgiving until mid January for many years, and I never tire of it. But your tablecloth is beautiful! The entire table looks so pretty and welcoming. I'm sorry to hear that you had a fire. We had a furnace event a few days ago, with smoke and ashes, but luckily the alarm company received the signal and there was no damage--just dirt and smoke. It was terrifying though, as the alarms were going off and we could smell the thick smoke. Back to your beautiful table--I love that pitcher! Basketweave is one of my weaknesses. You asked about my dishes--they were made by CE Corey. I wish you a very merry Christmas, Marlis! Linda

Marlis, those dishes are so classic and lovely. I have always admired them, and any dishes that have survived a house fire NEED to be used every year. I am charmed by the Spode dinnerware, I have never seen it. Love your dressed up chandalier too, and your lovely centerpiece. Joni
