A sad note in Santa Fe

We just returned from another glorious weekend in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I love this town. I'm sure it's because of the age and history of the city. Surely has nothing to do with exquisite food and shopping opportunities in every nook and cranny and at all fingertips! ;-)

a link to a previous post on Cielo:

One of my favorite places to shop was Cielo.  Past tense is intentional. I was shocked, saddened, distraught, sent into a fit of despair. It's empty and their are location available signs on both Cielo shops. They didn't check with me!!! How could they??? Why? Why? Why?

Their stock of Le Jacquard table linens was amazing.

I could always go check out the Sferra napkin colors. They had the best gifts for the hard to shop for.

Where am I going to get my Le Jacquard fix? They sent me down this road...  Any ideas? Jsut because they thought it was time to retire......

Do you remember this cute, cute Cafe Paris which had indoor dining in the winter and outdoor dining in the warmer months? It was our Saturday morning breakfast spot. They closed this portion down and then it went was primarily front and center on the corner of Burro Alley and West San Fransisco streets.

Ah, imagine our disappointment when this place was also boarded up and for rent/available to buy!
I think we found a couple of places to try the next trip. We will see. But they did have the best croissants this side of the Atlantic.
All because of something to do with their liquor license....

On a Santa Fe Table

Before I get into the pretties that I saw on our last trip to Santa Fe, NM, I'd love to thank everyone for leaving so many nice comments on the last two posts. I would love to answer each and every one, but there just isn't enough time! I really enjoyed reading them, each and every one.

Have a sit, partake of your favorite beverage.. this is a picture heavy post.

Let's start at Casa Nova, just a short walk away from the Plaza and our hotel.

This and the following pieces are from their Potters Workshop and Potterseed lines. Oh my. They are exquisite indeed. They are made in South Africa. Delicate. Intricate. Gorgeous. Promise.

None of these treasures came home with me. But they ship and I have their phone number!!
These vessels come in small bowls, medium bowls and large bowls.
Creamers and sugars.

And goblets. Aren't these exquisite?

So delicate. I cannot see the cowboy using these!!!
Oh but how perfect for a girlie lunch?

And then we stopped in at Cielo Tabletop.

I love this store. The owner and the dear lady who works there are delightful.
Helpful, fun and so very knowledgeable.
This is the table that greeted us upon our entry.

Rustic but oh so elegant.
Each napkin was encased in a feather napkin ring.

This is fabulous flatware. Silver and onyx. It just glistened.

Pretty glasses and glassware bring energy to the table.
Those candlesticks are so pretty.
William Yeoward?

Gorgeous pottery.

These napkin rings really look like jewelry. Many Kim Seyberts in the mix.

Sferra napkins. Oh, these are really some of my favorites. Did you see the tree with all 101 colors of cocktail napkins? There really isn't an ugly color in the bunch.

And then I saw these gorgeous napkins with the beautiful embroidery.

So may different pieces of fun glassware. I love those with the black and gold beads in the stem.

They also carry gorgeous pieces by Jan Barboglio. Also carried at Nieman Marcus.

Arte Italica

These are Japanese Lanterns in the vase. Thinking of doing this with cotton. Oh wait, I'll have to find a vase!

Gorgeous pieces with fitting price tags. But really, really gorgeous.

Hermes china. Outstanding pieces.

Garnier Thiebault linens. Love the napkin ring. Did you notice the overturned flatware.
Very European looking. The green placemat keeps everything from appearing dull. Good idea to remember.
Kim Seybert napkin rings.

I certainly hope that you enjoyed visiting some of my favorite stores in Santa Fe with me.
One day, we might just have to meet there!

I really will be joining the party over at Cuisine Kathleen's for Let's Dish and
See you there!

Cinco de Mayo Sunday Dinner Tablescape

Welcome to our Sunday night dinner. Viva Cinco de Mayo. These days, my 97 year old father joins us each Sunday for dinner. Mostly dinner in or sometimes dinner out.
I was determined to have Mexican food for dinner.

I was determined to have Mexican food for dinner.

I don't know about you, but I like my Mexican food spicy.

So how do you feed spicy Mexican food to a 97 year old man who thinks black pepper is spicy?

This is where careful planning comes in.

Did I mention that he has dentures and they don't fit well?

So no spicy food, nothing that would require a lot of chewing.

Menu:
Mexican pork roast
green beans
Flan

It worked. Great jalapeno flavor, no heat. Winner for everyone.

Mexican Chopped Salad with Honey Lime Dressing.
From Epicurious. Recipe HERE.
Son's plate, minus the feta cheese and the avocados.
I highly recommend that salad dressing. Can you say I would drink it straight? LOVE this dressing.
Loved the salad.
Romaine lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, corn, jicama, black beans, feta cheese and avocados.
Heaven!
