I know I shouldn't push fall to come this soon. However, with the massive heat wave we have had, maybe bringing in the browns will make it feel cooler! We did have two days this past Labor Day weekend where the AC didn't even think of kicking on! In the 60's on Sunday and 73 on Monday. We sat outside, we cooked out, we had doors and windows open, we reveled in the cooler temps!
So in honor of the cooler weather... browns and whites in a symphony of textures graced the table.
Our everyday Gorham flatware , so that everything is dishwasher friendly.. we are enjoying the cooler temps remember?
Simple white dinner plates on the nito/rattan chargers
Topped with a soup bowl in a lovely hue of golden brown
Topped with a simple monogrammed napkin
I found these open weave Irish linen napkins a few weeks ago at an estate sale.. They had never been used! So I promptly sat down, washed them and then gave them each a monogram.
The burlap runner, large and medium cloche, mercury glass candelsticks, and cross all grace our dining table.. so no set up was necessary except the dishes and a few votives in lower glass containers. The glasses used are some of favorites, each purchased in Santa Fe.
The matching carafe to the wine goblets.
Spanish moss tufts fall from the candlestick to add to the earthly charm of the table.
A favorite white pitcher stand on guard at this end to refill guests drinks as needed.
Pinecones, antique candles that were used as car headlights, a cross and some dried greenery sit atop the silver tray under the largest cloche.
The smaller cloche sports a lovely etched thistle design.

Beautiful table Marlis, I guess I'm going to have to give up my death grip on summer and start decorating for fall too. Thanks for sharing.
Very pretty Marlis, lovin' your pretty soup bowls! Glad the temps cooled off a bit for you-enjoy:@)
Your fall table is so beautiful. I love your napkins and your centerpiece is just lovely and original. Enjoy your few days of cool weather.
Love it! It's not over the top fall, rather just warm rich colors. Beautifully layered and accessorized
This table is so perfect for this time. I love the way you monogrammed the vintage napkins. And the cross is so beautiful. xo,
I was joyfully absorbing each element, and then I came to the napkin, and I said, "O-o-h-h-h-h!", out loud. Magnificent find, and your monogram raised it to an art form. I love this table. Minus the pine cones, I think it could be a great year round, beautiful tablescape. Today you gave me some ideas for combining some of my things...so much to do...so little time. ;-). Cherry Kay

Marlis,
Our weather broke her and I too am so happy! I love your fall table, but those napkins are incredible. You have mad sewing skills. I also love the glasses. I love when I get to display something purchased on my travels. Everything is perfect together. Dianne
Hi Marlis~ What beautiful monogrammed napkins on your fall table! Your sunlight filtered thru your drapes spilling on your table highlights all your elements so beautifully.
I envy your cooler temperatures~ we are in the 80's this week so a little reprieve for us weather-wise. I'm always anxious this time of year for fall but it seems to take its own sweet time to arrive. Glad to hear everyone is on the mend :-)
Marlis, your table is stunning. I love your unique centerpiece. Your monogram work is gorgeous... what a gift..Enjoy your cool weather, we're experiencing the same thing.. love it.. hugs ~lynne~
Love your setting in the afternoon shadows. Looking forward to some crisp autumn evenings.
Now, THAT is a classy tablescape!!!
Just beautiful. I love all your glassware and cloches. I love fall colors, so I would use this any day!
First, Marlis, I am relieved to know the temperatures there have mellowed out! Now if they can just get the wildfires under control... We were watching the fires on the news this morning and praying for the families who have lost their homes and those who have lost their lives. It's just devastating! I love your transitional table. It has just enough fall and just enough summer in it. It's beautiful! You KNOW I am jealous about those napkins!!! I love the lettering you added to the already gorgeous pieces! You did a fabulous job...as always! I really like that etched (thistle) cloche, too. Gorgeous!!! Oh, if you didn't get the news already, it's all clear w/Jimmo. Whew! That was a scary one! Take care!!!
You've created another lovely tablescape. Your cloches are gorgeous. I like the addition of the Spanish moss which helps to bring an organic touch to the totally elegant but so welcoming setting. Beautiful!
Hi Marlis, that monogrammed napkin is soooo beautiful. I love it combined with all the rustic elements, as well as the silver in the mercury glass candlesticks and the etchings on the glass. A very gorgeous table to transition from a hot summer to a cool fall!
Marlis, I really like the brown and white...I have been buying lots of brown clothes this year, not sure it is a good color for me, though. The napkins came out beautifully.
Love that gorgeous napkin and beautiful cloches and moss on the candlesticks. You did a great job of juxtaposing the elegant and rustic luxe.
Beautiful fall table! Love it all. The candlesticks and monogram napkins makes it for me.thanks for sharing.I embroidery too.
I love your table Marlis! The rich tans and browns mixed with the crystal and mercury glass are fabulous! I love your burlap runner and to think you made it! Wow - fantastic! Susie
Thank you so much for stopping by and your nice comment. I love your table especially the runner, silver with spanish moss and of course those monogrammed napkins! If I could embroider I would probably have my initials on everything I own!
Here I'm holding Fall off and you're pushing Fall. I guess it all depends upon your climate. LOL! Love the texture of your post.

Oh dear Marlis, loving every detail and elements you've used for staging such a gorgeus tablescape, I've taken my time looking at each! I love your dishes, charger, white pitcher, napkins, glasses and carafe, all of it it's just awesome!! Just came from TT at Susan's. Lots of hugs. FABBY
Wow, what fantastic textures you used! LOVE the detail on the soup bowls, and the moss on the candlesticks...I would never have thought of that! Jackalope is always on my "must go" list when I am in Santa Fe! Thanks for sharing your beautiful table!
What a lovely table! I love the different textures and the brown and white mixed together. Simply beautiful!
The table is lovely but I'm still stuck at the part about you sitting down and giving your napkins a monogram! How awesome is that! I sometimes toy with the idea of getting a machine just so I can do embroidery . . . You're adding fuel to the fire, Marlis! I really like how your whole table came together.
Love your table, Marlis! Every detail is beautiful. I love the cloches, napkins made by you, brown soup dishes and wine glasses! You created another masterpiece! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for stopping by my humble table to visit. I appreciate your lovely comments.
Blessings My Friend,
Hi Marlis, there isn't a thing about this table that I don't find totally charming. I love, love the brown plates.

I'm trying my best to resist the urge to the same. I'm with you completely about summer being so oppressive this year that autumn is a welcome sight.
Your browns and whites are really lovely and perfect. It's sort of a subtle fall look, I think. My favorite part is the centerpiece. I think the antique head lights are cool little treasure.
Hello my dear!!! I love every detail of your table as always! The monogram you put on those gorgeous napkins is FANTASTIC@!!@@@!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do my favorite design style--rustic lux--soooooo well!!!!
That white pitcher is timelessly classic, too!
I will be mailing off some of your items (with some extra things for you, too!) either tomorrow or the next day! Thank you so much for supporting my little ETSY site.
You're awesome!!!

Your fall table is very pretty and elegant, Marlis. I love your gorgeous etched cloche...Christine
How unusual and clever to think of brown as cooling things off--and it did! You created a very soothing and cool setting with a color that is normally used with warms. I love it! And I too, am drooling over the etched cloche! Maybe a future post on the sewing/embroidery machine you have, for all of us who are loving your napkins? Great table, Marlis!
Marlis, There are so many beautiful elements to your table. I love the textures..pinecones, burlap, etched cloche with the thistle, and mercury glass, lovely neutral colors and that yummy soup bowl.. actually, I just love everything! Sooo pretty.
