Nutcracker Sweet Tablescape

This one's for you, Michael! A guy's table with his collectibles done up not so girly! I think I got it.

Started with a Zina Vasi tablecloth purchased last year after Christmas - on deep discount sale!

Three nutcrackers comprise the center of the tablecloth.
I thought this tablecloth went so well with the Williams Sonoma Nutcracker plates. I assure you I have 6 different designs, but somehow.. #6 photo is AWOL. sigh.

Hopefully soon, I'll find some red flatware!

Collected some of his Nutcrackers, most of which are Steinbach's with an occasional imposter thrown in.

How many times have we seen lovely vintage candleholders at Bill's Affordable Accoutrements? Well you know, when I saw these at an estate sale, they just jumped in my arms..

Love the plaid plates behind the red rope edge of the Nutcracker plates. The plaid dishes are Nikko and available at Dillards. They have this sweet little holly/berry ring around the inside perimeter.

These sweeties were found at Michael's for 1 dollar each! Great as a take home give. I will be attaching some place cards to them also.
This sweetie was found at an estate sale. He's really old.

Handblown wine hocks from Mexico via Santa Fe, NM. The red bubble glasses were purchased at Stein Mart. last year.

Such a darling place setting.. don't you think? And certainly not "girly"!

Cast:
Tablcloth - Zina Vasi, Dillards
Napkins - from my mother
Dinner plates - Nikko, Dillards
Salad Plates - Williams Sonoma, last year
Flatware - Gorham
Wine hocks - Handblown in Mexico, purchased in Santa Fe, NM
Red water goblets - Stein Mart last year
Candleholders - estate sale
Nutcrackers - from my son's collection
Juniper - from the driveway

I'll be joining Susan's party at Between Naps on the Porch.
I hope to see you there!

Beautiful table, Marlis. I always enjoyed seeing the Nutcracker ballet this time of year. It would always set the mood for Christmas decorating, etc. xo

I've been tempted many times to add this tablecloth to my linen closet. Your gorgeous tablescape might have finally sent me over the edge. Your nutcracker collection must transport you back with memories of your European heritage. Very very special design, Marlis. I love it! Cherry Kay

Hi, Marlis! I have always been very afraid of nutcrackers (and clowns!), but I am starting to warm up to them a bit. They odn't make them as scary looking as they used to. The eyes and the mouths always freaked me out terribly!!! As I said, though, I'm getting better. In fact, I actually bought some nutcrackers at the end of the Christmas season last year that I am going to use in a tablescape...as soon as I work up the nerve to open the box! :-) Your nutcrackers aren't too scary. Those on the tablecloth don't scare me at all. It's beautiful! The plates are d-i-v-i-n-e!!!!!! I LOVE tartan plaid, and it looks really great with the holly garland plates. Not too girly at all! You scored another homerun!!!

I have been collecting nutcrackers for years and just still am fascinated by new ones. I love Steinbachs and "imposters" too! What a great tablecloth to go with it and your plates are just amazing. My grandkids are big fans too and I think this year I might wrap up some of mine and pass them on (so I can buy more!)

Marlis, I have anticpated this nutcracker tablescape since you visited my nutcracker mantel post last week. You have tempted me to add a nutcracker tablecloth to my linens! Your nutcracker collection is very special. I feel a nutcracker tablescape coming on in the next couple of years!

I got those plates too but I hadn't considered the idea of using my nutcrackers on the table with them! What a great idea! Your tablecloth made me take a double take I thought I was the Williams Sonoma one to go with the dishes but when you called it out as a Zina Vasi I had to take a double take! It's quite perfect! The tartain design underneath them is awesome, what a great combo! The best selection of red flatware I've found is at Horchow's or Neiman Marcus. Some are a bit pricey and some are reasonable. I love Dillards for their different selection of dishes! Great job all around!

I love this one! You hit the right note with the ungirly theme tonight. We're nutcracker people here, too. I have quite a collection and the girls and I have all danced in the nutcracker ballet productions. I have probably seen the Nutcracker a thousand times. Quite a fun table. Happy Holidays, friend.

Haha! Like Alycia, I have always been afraid of nutcrackers. But, I have to say, you have some very cute ones (sorry, that isn't what a man wants to hear!) and all the different styles are very interesting. The plaid is great and the stemware is beautiful, too. I love Santa Fe!

Hi, Marlis. I'm a bit behind in my blog visits...thank you so much for visiting me and commenting on not one, but two of my posts! And your visits brought me back to you and your absolutely darling nutcracker tablescape. Both plates are beautiful, and they make a great, great holiday setting. Oh, and the tablecloth--how perfect is that? Wonder which was your inspiration, the plates or the tablecloth? :) I'm following you now. Glad I checked; for some reason I hadn't done that, but thought I had. Good to follow you! Merry Christmas to you and yours. ~Zuni

Your nutcrackers are wonderful. My sister collects them. I need to send her this way.

Sorry to be so late getting around. I am having major stupid computer issues. UGH.

Marlis, Sorry I'm so late looking at last Thursday's posts. I've been out of town so didn't do one. This is the most creative theme on nutcrackers I have ever seen - ever. Love the tablecloth [congrats on getting it on sale] and the plaid plates. It is so hard to do a table for guys, but you knocked it out of the park. You always inspire me and give me great ideas.
