Sunflower Fields Forever Tablescape

Welcome to a hot, sunny, summer day in West Texas.

Sunflowers, sun rays, sun colored tablecloth, amber colored glasses with punches of black.

All with a pop of red!

Roosters guarding the napkin lest the sun rays pop in and dance away with them.

Dinner and salad plate.

Notice the woven red designs on the French tablecloth. The black flatware was chosen to carry the black from the plates onto the table.

With the salad plate removed, here is the larger rooster design which reminds me of Toile du Juoy.

A mix of silver-plated spreaders sits atop the saucer come bread plate. I spy a woven sunflower in the tablecloth.

The Chanticleer pitcher makes yet another appearance on this warm evening.

Dashing salt and peppers purchased in Albany, Texas.

Another dashing set to crow out their shakes of salt and pepper.

Whitehall amber tumblers and golden hued wine goblets fit so perfectly with the setting.

Some lemons and pearl onions scattered beneath the glorious sunflowers remind somehow of Provence...

Your eyes aren't playing tricks I promise... I changed the candle holders from these to the black wrought iron ones you'll see here too.

Mr. Sam provided the sunflowers and these gorgeous 'things' from Kenya.

I hope you'll take a seat and join us.. Dinner is a Pork tenderloin with sage, fluffy mashed potatoes, asparagus sprinkled with lemon juice and a fresh green salad with a lemon vinaigrette.

Oh my, I'd join you at this table if you were only serving day old sliced white bread. So gorgeous! I love the basket candleholders...perfectly unexpected. The toile dinnerware is delightful, and I need to go back to see if you listed where you found the amber wine goblet. I've been looking. I think that I'm going to buy the new Vietri amber goblet. Thanks for sharing your beautiful, sun kissed design...and yes, I'm pretty sure that we were separated at birth. I really want Jan to invite my sister to join you all for lunch some time. Actually, you've probably already met each other at some point in a crowd of 1000 of your most intimate friends. Cherry Kay

Such a pretty and happy table. I just love sunflowers and they go so well with the roosters and the black and white plates. Dinner sounds fabulous too. I think pork loin is one of my favorite meats. When is dinner served?

I always think of sunflowers during our transition from August to September. I bought some new sunflower plates while away in Maine this summer, so I'm hoping to do a sunflower table soon. Your tablecloth is so pretty, and it all looks fabulous with the black and white plates.

Marlis -- you have a lot of elements going on here and you pulled it all together so beautifully. I love the rooster plates and I am in love with the tumblers -- I am going to get on eBay to see if they have any. Such a bright and pretty table to enjoy a sumptuous pork loin meal. Joni

Sizzlin' hot, Marlis! Sizzlin' hot!!! I haven't thought about the fables with the Chanticleer rooster in years!!! Wow...that really takes me back! The Chanticleer pitcher is so, so, so, so pretty! The handle on it is just the neatest thing!!! The "things" from Kenya almost look like the heads of purple cone flowers, but I don't know what they are for sure. They look great with the sunflowers, though. Cool texture to them. LOVE the dishes! I've never seen any like them, and they are gorgeous!!!!!! I'm telling you, this table is just like the weather in West Texas: Sizzlin' hot! :-)
