Dining outside should be easy, relaxed and fun. Although I've set a very formal table outside too, usually though, dining alfresco is more laid back at our home.
I started with a great tablecloth. April Cornell. Although, I'm not quite sure why the bands were put on square and then whacked off to create the round, the colors of the tablecloth are perfect. Blue. White. Yellow. Green.
Added some daisy mums and a bit of blue to the yellow tulips provided a great pop of color. Although dramatic floral arrangements look great in photos, I tend to remove them when these are this tall and replace them a smaller version or simply a bowl of floating candles and petals. (Table: 4/23/11)
Amber and green French hand-blown goblets are set at the ready for our refreshments.
I stacked the nito chargers, white dinner plates and green pressed glass salad plates to play off the colors of the tablecloth.
Argent flatware with pearlized blue handles serve as the flatware and the only blue on the table save for a bit in the flowers.
Nito napkin rings corral the napkins in place. Although the table is not small, placing the napkin on the rim of the plate keeps the table from taking on a crowded appearance. It also keeps matching napkins from fading into the tablecloth.
The twig vase was a recent find and I'm thoroughly delighted by it.The glass insert is not removable, so cleaning might be a challenge, bur I love it none the less!
Another recent find, this multi-salt salt cellar came home with me from Cielo in Santa Fe. There is a gray sea salt, an Hawaiian red salt and then white sea salt in the dish. Doesn't this make a lovely presentation?
Tiny salt spoons in pewter have a graceful leaf design.
Thank you very much for stopping in. I loved having you and hope that you enjoyed your stay as well. Leave a comment if you care, I do enjoy knowing you were here.

Marlis, this table is so fresh looking. I'm in love with that tablecloth and your centerpiece is just singing SPRING! Thanks so much for sharing.
I love your triple salt cellar! With all the varieties of salt being so popular right now, this would be such fun to present on the table..
What a beautiful setting for your table! I love meals outside. The dramatic centerpiece is so nice. And your colors are wonderful! What a lovely tablecloth!
Oh Marlis, this table is wonderful!! I just love these colors. April Cornell linens are wonderful, aren't they? I just bought one of her aprons at Home Goods. So cheerful. Everything on this table is great -- the chargers and napkin rings, the linens, the flatware, and of course, the flowers. But I am in love with that twig vase - what a find!! Hope you enjoy your alfesco meal.
Hugs,

I absolutely love the tablecloth and napkins. The flower arrangement is just delightful and makes me smile just to look at it! This is just a gorgeous setting.
Beautifully put together! Your twig vase is a real find and works wonderfully well with the other natural elements on the table.
Just came in from working outside for a break and what a nice thing to see. Your table is beautiful, it will keep me in the mood to keep working ourside, lol. It's hot! But I want to finish a project cause John is inviting some people on Sat.I love your triple salt server but I love the diff. flavored sea salts even more. Pretty color combo! Polish pottery will look really good on that tablecloth!:-).....Christine
Such an appealing table Marlis. I would love to sit under that tree and drink a glass of iced tea at that taable. I am totally obsessed with salts and I think I love the gray salt the best. Dianne
Marlis, this outdoor table setting is absolutely lovely! Isn't it amazing how easy it is to spot April Cornell's stuff? I knew right away that tablecloth was hers & I, too, question the strange bordering. ???
Anyway, all your pieces are just beautiful on it....love the chargers & rustic looking centerpiece together. Smart move to put the napkins up on the rim, too.
Very, very pretty!
fondly,
Rett
I love this blue and yellow table. It's beautiful, Marlis. The outdoor setting is wonderful!
Love it, Marlis! Blue, yellow and green is one of my favorite combinations and that April Cornell tablecloth is beautiful. Just waiting for my invitation to come join you!
That twig vase is just fabulous. I wouldn't think it would be a problem for it to get wet when you clean it. After all, twigs do get wet in nature and they come through intact.
Thanks so much for following me!
Loved your post so pretty with the great tablecloth and napkins. would love to eat lunch with you.
Oh, yes....I LOVE that floral vessel!!! That is SO cool!!! I have never seen anything like it! It is perfect for an outdoor setting!!! The salt cellar is great, too! I don't know that I have ever seen the grey or Hawaiian red. Do they taste like sea salt or have a different flavor? As usual, you did a fabulous job of picking up all the colors and making them all the star of the table!
Marlis, blue and yellow always makes me smile, and so does dining alfresco. Thanks for setting this beautiful table to share with all of us. ~ sarah

Hi Marlis:
Thanks so much for being a part of Seasonal Sundays. I really thought I had commented on this table before. Perhaps the comments got lost in the Blogger debacle. At any rate, I love this table. April Cornell has such beautiful textiles, so vibrant and full of life. Your flowers are the perfect extension. Awesome flatware!
Can't wait to see what you come up with for the "Where do you keep it all?" post.
