A Girlfriend Luncheon tablescape

My dear friend Diane had us all over for a delightful and scrumptious luncheon last Saturday. Every detail on the table was carried out to perfection. The Ralph Lauren napkins were encircled by rose napkin rings. So fitting with her mother's china.

Somehow, I didn't get a full picture of the beautiful dishes. But when it's a party, it's hard to get all the perfect shots!!! So piece the top 2 pictures together and you can glimpse the plates.

So I did  bit of sleuthing. As I'd never seen the Pope Gosser hallmark before.
Bentley Pope migrated to the states from England where he had been a master potter.
He settled in Coshocton, Ohio,
Met up with Charles Gosser, a prominent business man and they started up Pope Gosser China.
Their chinaware is renowned for its ability to resist crazing and cracking.

This hallmark dates the piece to the 50's. Which, according to my friend is correct. You would love, love the feel of this china.

Doesn't this table look perfect with her decor? The whole room read like a beautiful story.
The china is resting on Mikasa Daylight chargers.

A crystal bowl held the flowers; perfectly matched in color, to the china and the chargers.

A heavier goblet for our beverage.

Beautiful flatware!!!

And each place was set with a place card. Name on the front, and a beautiful scripture on the back. Every detail made us feel so special.

It's all in the details.. I'm telling you!
Look how each pitcher for the different salad dressings are labeled and tied with pink tulle.
Lunch was a delicious salad with grilled chicken.
And the most delicious bread in the world.
No kneading, nothing, just let it rise in a baker.
Yumm!!
For dessert..
strawberries with a sourcream, brown sugar, rum sauce.
amazing.

Individual slat and peppers at the table.

Are you ready for this? Each bread plate had a rose shaped
butter pat.

Thank you Diane for a most wonderful day.
I know that we all loved every minute of it!

Joining the parties over at Cuisine Kathleen's for Let's Dish on Wednesday evening,
See you there!
For those of you who are accustomed to seeing Alycia's beautiful tables at Tablecape at Table 21, I keep her in my prayers. She was been with her father while in hospice. He passed away this afternoon and is singing and dancing with Jesus. I pray that she finds comfort in her time of great need. Prayers for the whole family. May God wrap his arms around them so that they will feel comforted and the joy that their beloved Jim feels now.

It makes me happy to know that you were honored and pampered in such a lovely way at your luncheon at Dianes. Pope Gosser is new to me, too. I'll have to investigate further. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Beautiful table. I had never heard of Pope-Gosser china until now, either. Very pretty china, nice edging on the plates.
Have a wonderful week...

How special this must have made her guests feel, to know that she went to the 'trouble' of creating such a lovely table! Of course, WE know it isn't 'trouble' but FUN. My sister always says about my tablescapes, "Looks like a lot of work to me" I tell her it is PLAY, not work!

Very, very pretty things!!
Hugs,
Rett

Marlis, you did capture the details of this tablescape, and they are beautiful. I love how the luncheon had a theme with the rose. I will have to do a little sleuthing myself to read the history of this beautiful pattern. Diane has a lovely dining room, I’m sure the guests appreciated such a lovely table.

You friend, Diane, was so smart to use the dark tablecloth in her white room. It made everything on the table stand-out beautifully. Those rose butter pats were such a precious touch, along with the sweet place cards. Thank you for sharing this, Marlis - I know it was a lovely luncheon!

Hi Marlis. What a great article. I really like that you gave us some history on the china. I'm a history buff, AND born in Ohio, so I was digging that! Love the labels on the dressings, great idea. She set a very elegant table, and you all must have felt very special. Blessings - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin

I have chills all over having just read about Alycia's father. I thought about her today and wondered if something was wrong because I had not seen a new post from her but I have been busy and not on the computer as much. I wondered but didn't take the time to look up her blog.

The luncheon your friend gave was delightful from A-Z! Such a pretty table setting, beautiful flowers, china and all the trimmings. The food sounds wonderful and all the personal touches like personalized place cards, rose butter pats etc. was a delight I am sure. Understand exactly about making pictures at a party.

I was delighted to hear from you and your comment made my day. I have been running my legs off and not able to get on the computer and read my favorite blogs. I kept thinking all day truthfully all I wanted to do was visit my blog friends but I had so much work I had to do.

This table is beautiful! I love that she used a blue tablecloth. Her dishes are very pretty too! Yes, it is in all the details. I am sure she took a lot of time & energy preparing this table. Love the idea of different salad dressings in white pitchers. I usually just use a gravy boat. The little butter rose is adorable too! I could go on and on......
Thank you for visiting me! Love your comments.
Blessings My Friend,

Thank you for sharing about Alicia's Dad. I will have to email her.

What a lovely party. Everything looks beautiful, and I love the little tags on the dressing servers. Great idea that I'll be borrowing. Marlis, you asked about my napkins in my recent post. I've had those for so long, and I'm sorry, I have no idea where I got them. Thank you for your kind comment. laurie
