Una tabla de colores vivos tablescape

This was not what I had planned this week. Oh wait, I didn't have anything planned this week. I do have two tables that I haven't yet shared, but....

And then I came across these plates at TJMaxx on Friday. At lunch on Friday. And I snagged 8 of them. What was I thinking? I loved them. Why didn't I get more right then???? I love how the glass swirls inside the plate. And I loved the color.

This gorgeous plant arrived on Friday, too. Orange and teal.. wow what a great combination. But still not how the table came about. Friday evening I was "auditioning" the teal plates. Tried them with this and that. And then I pulled out the next best thing to a quilt.. a serape.

Saturday morning I sent asked my sweet, darling son to run over and snag pick up the remainder of the plates. He did. They are going to be fabulous for summer entertaining.

I also remembered that these glasses have a matching colored rim to the plates.

So for today, the table fits the menu and the hot temperatures! Una tabla de colores vivos. A brightly colored table. Using the napkin that I embellished last year with the napkin rings the grands call the birthday napkin rings, gave way to using a brightly colored flatware set picked up at Ross's last year. Adding the white charger and white salad plate kept the table from getting boisterous.

We will be dining late, otherwise the outside temperatures would cause much discomfort. It's just been too danged hot!!

The sun will be setting soon, and the table will be shaded. We'll turn on the outside lights.

The sun is setting, its' time to turn on the lights.

Oh yes. My dream of tiny white lights is long gone. At first, we had smaller colored bulbs strung over the patio. But this year, Mr. CJ found larger, more brightly colored bulbs and changed them out. Oh my oh my. This could be why he doesn't decorate inside.

We will be dining on Cilantro Rice (HERE) and Margarita Pork K-bobs (HERE), a fresh green salad and an adult beverage of your choice.

Marlis, put me down for a margarita as my adult beverage! I loved reading how your table came together this week -- lots of serendipity involved, as well as a serape! The teal and orange work wonderfully together, and those napkin rings let us know a fiesta is about to start!

LOVE the southwest feel of this table. I have a real appreciation for the color orange and teal is on my faves list. Can't go wrong putting them together.

I am on TJMaxx and dish buying in general restriction BUT your post has me yearning to go there :)

Blessings!
Gail

Oh so lovely! The serape was a great idea for the table! Those swirled glass plates are so interesting. Love the layering choices and I really like your fun napkin rings! Enjoy. Sorry about the heat. I'll stop complaining about our coolness up here in the Northwest...

Marlis, spontaneity is the best! Your plates give off a cooling effect so needed by all of us here in TX. I flew in from Santa Fe last night it was still 106 here at 7:30 PM from a high of 109. Oh, my!
Love the orange and blue combo and the colorful serape and napkin rings. Those napkin rings do look festive like birthday celebrations. ;-)

Me gusta mucho!!! No te preocupes. Las luces su esposo put up go really well with this table, Marlis! You'll just have to pretend they're not there for other tablescapes that involve softer colors. Doggone those me and their "decorating" skills...or lack thereof!:-) He meant well, I suppose! :-) The colors are so vibrant and they really reflect the summer months. They wake ya right up! Es una gran parte de la que me encanta en las mesas Mexicanas. (How ya like my Spanglish? :-) The napkins you blinged out last year and the "birthday napkin rings" both really work beautifully with it all! You were smart to send you son back to get the rest of those dishes while the gettin' was good. You know how the ones you love always tend to disappear!!! The design reminds me of a swirling blue ocean. Gorgeous!

I have a Mexican blanket that I've never thought of using on a table. Just beautiful. Love your new plates. I might have to go look at TJMaxx here!! Your napkins are beautiful!! The hest is killing us too. 106 is just ridiculous!!

OK! now I am bummed that I didn't buy those dishes when I saw them at TJ Maxx! I really liked them but I have to pace myself with the dish buying because eventually it is going to lead to a dinning room hutch buying!! Anyway - I love what you did with those pretty turquoise dishes, the mix with orange is perfect and fun!

Sweet Mister could have put up the large bulb string of multi-colored lights. I asked for twinkle lights for years...finally got them at Christmas time. His thought...."My mom used larger lights, and if it was good enough for her, it's good enough for me." Your darling table brought back memories of the River Walk in San Antonio. I really like the new chargers. Great get! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Oh goodness, it's gorgeous! I love it from serape right up to the flowers. Orange and teal is a beautiful combination in my book. The dishes are wonderful and if I were not on a spending FREEZE, I would love some too.

Just lovely,

Marlis, This is so beautiful. So many bold and festive colors. I absolutely am gaga over your napkins. I saw you later post about the napkins. I can't believe, I never thought to do that. You could even do that on purchased napkins.
The nightime pics are awesome.
Thanks for sharing with us, Ginger
