Tulips

The tulips make me want to paint,
Something about the way they drop
Their petals on the tabletop
And do not wilt so much as faint,

Something about their burnt-out hearts,
Something about their pallid stems
Wearing decay like diadems,
Parading finishes like starts,

Something about the way they twist
As if to catch the last applause,
And drink the moment through long straws,
And how, tomorrow, they’ll be missed.

The way they’re somehow getting clearer,
The tulips make me want to see
The tulips make the other me
(The backwards one who’s in the mirror,

The one who can’t tell left from right),
Glance now over the wrong shoulder
To watch them get a little older
And give themselves up to the light.

I wish you all a very happy weekend. If you've been following the sporadic posts, you've gleaned a bit of upheaval in our lives. We are still blessed. God has rained down blessings in the last 24 hours that blow my mind. My praises for Him are great and His timing is perfect. Thank you all for the concern and the woods of hope. You've made my day!

Tulips - Wal-Mart
Candleholders - Pottery Barn
Vase/Jug - One Kings' Lane
Cat - ruler of the castle

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Regan has the right idea. Those are beautiful tulips, in two of my favorite colours. I may have to get some tomorrow. Thanks for sharing and hugs to Regan. Deb

Marlis, I just added another cat to our home (rescue). They are the rulers! I love this poem! The writer caught the essence of tulips! The vase is beautiful too. Good luck in all that you are facing! Joni

Oh Mariis, my favorite flower... they make me feel so alive with the promise of spring and new birth. And my absolute favorite bible verse. Amazing the way God speaks to us when we need it most. Thank you!

It was with great relief that I read how things have turned the corner for you & are improving, Marlis. Whatever the issue, I'm SO very glad it is being resolved. I am a big worrier...always have been & it is always so hard for me to just "give it to God" sometimes.

Continued prayers & hugs,
Rett
