How to banish winter and welcome spring?
Bring out something shiny and something blue.
Encircle a napkin the color of the sky with a honeycomb ring buzzing with a bee.
Pick the favorite plates with wonderful vines for the salad course.
Pull out the most cheerful paisley dishes on nito chargers, paired with the blue flatware.
Let the vines peek out from napkin as promises of great things to come.
Antique candle holders to cast mystical light.
And place happy faces on the table before the guests arrive.
Those pretty faces sit inside Flower Bricks and an estate sale find planter raised on a pedestal.
Don't forget to take a last minute look to make sure ALL the flatware, glasses, salt and peppers... oops let me grab those quickly.
And put a pretty lighter on the table to light the candles for when the guests arrive and then sit back and have fun!

Marlis, what a lovely spring table. I love the pairing of the salad plate with the blue and white dinner plate. Your table does sing of spring! Love the blue flatware too. Joni
I really do love your Mikasa salad plates. (Sigh) I'm caving in and adding them to my wish list. So many plates, so little space . . . Beautiful table, Marlis!
Beautiful table, Marlis. I was just thinking about my blue plates the other day. I need to get them out and use them!
You can order some pieces of Spode online from the Shepherd Hills Outlet. I love going to the store, just to browse. Of course I always find something to bring home. The flagship store is in my old hometown, near Bennett Spring State Park. We visit the store (there are things for guys there too)then we pick up bite to eat and go to the park and have lunch while watching the trout fishermen. That is why I bought the trout plates our last trip down that way.
Hi Marlis, your table is beautiful, I have a soft spot for blue and especially mixed with green. I need to get some pansies planted. xo
Happy faces...I've always loved that reference to pansies. Mine are flourishing in the garden right now...it's beautiful here on the prairie. The blue paisley plates won my heart immediately, and I enjoyed them paired with the Mikasa Ivy salad. I've. Even itching to get back to my blues...this inspires me even further. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

I have been thinking, thinking, thinking about how to freshen up my "Daylight" china, and you have shown here that it certainly can be done! Adding it to a predominantly blue & white palette is a great idea! It's picture perfect, Marlis...as always!

Marlis, I am in love with those vine dishes--I saw them recently on Mary's Home is Where the Boat Is blog and now I can't get them out of my mind! Your planters should be living here too....And my new olive oil came in today--this year's harvest, so can you send me your address? :) Also, I was just on your swan page. I collect swans too but I never knew about the Lenox bridal swans! I love my Lenox pair. I think I had them on a Valentine's table last year. One day my husband brought them home to me--very unusual for him and I have loved them ever since! Linda
Beautiful place setting of dishes. And I love the colors. The pansies are perfect with your table.
Very pretty table. Love the blue paisley and the blue & white flower pots. Perfect touch of green with the salad plates. Very pretty shade of blue in the napkin, too. Your pansies are so perky.
Marlis, what a lovely blue table for spring! We were thinking along the same lines this week ;o)
Yay for welcoming spring! I love your plate choices for this one, especially the subtle little vine. My favorite shot of all is the one with the vine peeking through the napkin.
I love stuff like that.

Stunning spring table with all those happy colours! Lovely shots too.
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog:)
I like the little touches of green to break up the pretty blue (the plants and the one plate). It's getting too warm for pansies here in FL so I'm glad I had mine for the past few months! Happy Spring!

Marlis, it's very obvious that you know how to welcome spring! Besides being a pretty tablescape, I really enjoyed your post! Pansies are my favorite flower, just for the reason you mentioned! Love all the dishes, but especially the vined ones!
Marlie, this is such a great way to welcome spring. I was just checking on my pansies today. They are trying! They had a hard dry winter. I love how you put them in the fun blue and white containers. Flowers are the great gift of spring!
I looked at this the other night on my ipad, but I couldn't leave a comment. That thing is ornery!
