I have found myself smitten; heads over heels; in LOVE with blue and green this summer. I think it all started with a post I did back in February, HERE...
Lovely Scribbles |
that featured this table, that I am still head over heels swooning about.
source |
And then I posted this table. Still haven't seen blue flowers anywhere!!!
And then came these goblets.
Horchow's when they have their 25-30% off everything sale.
Bahia - green feet on a gorgeous blue bowl.
At Tuesday Morning last week, I found some Waterford place mats in a gorgeous light blue linen.
They had 8, and then Saturday morning there was another set of 4 (to make 12) on eBay.
They were meant to be!!
I found that I had a plaid napkin that had both blue and green. Perfect!
Added a white World Market napkin ring.
The Cambridge flatware from Horchow's.
Cabbage plate from Bordallo Pinheiro.
A pasta plate made in Italy with a gorgeous blue edge.
The white daisies give just the feeling I wanted, relaxed and casual.
The tall etched hurricanes are a Pottery Barn find and the blue vases came from Home Goods in Dallas.
One tip about place mats:
Don't crowd everything onto the place mat, it's better to improvise and or leave off a piece instead of cramming everything on the place mat seam to seam.
This is some of the hardest working flatware I have.
Are you tired of this color combination already?
Not this year, I am not.
As I was playing around with what to use, I discovered a few combinations that will be perfect.
Salad on a World Market Passaro plate.
And if I wanted to dress it up, a blue and white china plate with an elegant embroidered napkin.
Totally a very versatile combination.

I've been drawn to blue and green, too...first time since the 60's...;-) Good things always seem to eventually roll around again, don't they? Those place mats are lovely. I'm going to have to stop by Tuesday morning tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration. Cherry Kay
I'm
Going to have to check out World Market. I love those napkin rings.
Oh so pretty, Marlis, I'm swooning with blue and green envy!! The goblets are gorgeous and seemed to have inspired the table. I love the stacks of dishes on the blue linen placemats. The pasts bowls are so colorful and add such beautiful color. What's for dinner? I'll be right over!

Gorgeous Marlis and I love your new goblets! Your table is cool and fresh and a perfect color combination for rising temperatures! Looking forward to your next green & blue creation :)
Do as many green & blue tables as you wish, Marlis. They have all been so pretty!!! I really like this one because of the glassware and the dishes! No way I could get tired of these colors!!! I really like the vases, too. They go great with the Bahia glassware you chose, and the daisies look perfectly perfect in them! :-)
Great tip about the place mat crowding thing! You are SO right!
I love it that you showed several other cool dish combos at the end of the post! You just never know until you take time to play in the dishes! :-)
Don't think I'd tire of blue and green tablescapes. I find the combination very cool and refreshing. My blue plumbago bushes are in full bloom. They would be perfect for your blue and green tables. The new stems are perfection for all of your pretty dishes, and the new linens as well. Great finds! Loving those WM napkin rings. They have great texture! Thanks for sharing this beautiful table. ~ Sarah
Marlis, Your table is beautiful! I love the blue and green!
Blue and green is my favorite combo, too...love your table, Marlis. I have to say that almost anything looks great on those cabbage plates! I would do this combo every week if I thought I could get away with it.
The stemware is so pretty. Great vases.
Have a wonderful week...
Marlis, you had me at the cabbage plates! I love that pattern and enjoy seeing the many different ways it's used. Pairing it with blue and adding those napkins is perfect! I'm trying to remember if I've ever done a blue and green tablescape. You've got me thinking... Yours (all of them!) are delightful!
Beautiful plates, beautiful table, beautiful color combo, Marlis! I love the last picture...Christine

I have been drawn to blue and green also and now I have a new blue to play with. Your table is beautiful.
I had to get up to look in my cabinets for the same glasses. I found two of them at Ross a few months back. I just realized I could have used them in the table I posted today. Next time.
I'm with Alycia, keep the blue and green coming.
Oooh it's gorgeous! I love that color scheme, too. I've been wanting cabbage plates, so I drooled over yours a little. :) You did a beautiful job. Take care - Dawn
Such soothing colors, Marlis...makes me think of the beach! Who could ever get tired of those colors? Not me!
Your new goblets from Horchow are GORGEOUS & they echo the colors in your pretty pasta plates, the Bordallo Pinheiro & the rest of the table beautifully.
Your color scheme is perfect for a hot Texas day, and I love all the textures and patterns you have used. You had better luck at Tuesday Morning than I ever do.
Oh wow yes Marlis!! Love your blue and green theme! The vases on your centerpiece are gorgeous. Such a delightful table.

I have those glasses too! I picked them up at Marshalls and TJMaxx, everytime I saw some. Had quite a few so gave my daughter some of them. I saw them again recently at TJ Maxx. Not sure why I like them so much, I have hardly any blue dishes but do have the greens to go with them. Nice table!
Blue and green -- Mother Nature's hues are never wrong together. I loved that you showed how we can mix and match with this tablescape using different dishes. Beautiful!
The blue & green goblets are beautiful! So is your table! I love the daisy's....just the right touch to make your table sing! Blue & Green forever!!!!!
Thank you for stopping by my blog.

My favorite color in a garden is blue, starting with blue hydrangeas
Nothing wrong with blue & green this time of year Marlis, especially how beautifully you use them on your table! Everything feels cool & refreshing :-) Have a wonderful weekend!!
Marlis, those goblets steal my heart every time I see them. You could have put those and the cabbage plates on the table, and I would have been swooning. Oh wait, I also think those cobalt blue vases are gorgeous, and oh, the flatware too. OK, once again, I love everything on your table. Good tip about not crowding the place mats. I'm always trying to fit as many as possible at my tables, and I do tend to over-crowd. Have a great weekend. laurie

Hi Marlis, great colours!! I really love the soft blue linen placemats. They would look just gorgeous teamed with brown for a more winter look.
