Nuts about you darlin' tablescape

I set this table for just the two of us to celebrate my sweet husband's yearly joyous commemoration of his birth.

Setting up our dining experience in a corner under some trees made it seem a bit secluded and special.

The placemat is a juxtaposition to the delicate crochet lace of the tablecloth.

Simple table decor - a nut tree, candles and a spoofed up pumpkin!

A mix of dishes keeps the setting from being too far out of my cowboy's comfort range!

Cute corn husk covered pumpkins for some fun in the bowl.

My favorite silverplate, the viney placemat, brown transferware, texture via the white plate.. so many favorites!

One craft pumpkin, some antique white craft paint, dirty water (paint and lots of water) to settle in the brush strokes of the white paint, some velvet leaves and a plaid ribbon. You can do this too!

Wooden candleholder form the coffee table topped off with a votive holder and a candle.

Tarnished sterling.. salt and pepper dressed in their finest.

So mad there were only 3 left.. I LOVE these bowls.

I love this tablecloth. So much. Mom's handiwork was always so exquisite.

.Our favorite handblown goblets..

It takes a lot of nuts (and one big one) to cover a styrofoam tree. I recommend brown spray paint on the tree first! Then don't use low temp hot glue.. Just sayin...

The rosemary in the pot gives off such a wonderful scent when you brush up against it. Love white pumpkins.. love them. yes i really think i love them.

Ralph just does the best fabrics! Love his napkins.

I hope you enjoyed our little fete a deux to celebrate a special understated event.

Super table! You did the fall thing with white pumpkins but went off the map with the green and nuts. Love it! I was happy to see a different take on the season. Happy Birthday!

This is so soft...it makes me want to just sink into a chair and chain myself to it for hours! The colors are beautiful, Marlis, and the combination of elements is terrific....especially all the nuts and the rosemary plant and the ginormous white pumpkin! Adding fabric to the chairs makes all the difference. Goregeous with a capital G!!!

Just beautiful Marlis. Looks like something off the pages at BHG. What type of glue did you use to adhere the nuts? xo

So many things to love here. First, Happy Birthday to your DH! Okay this big nut may have to try a nut tree, too. It's a great look...and I'm going to go pull out a bolt of my brown ribbon...wonderful, special touch for the pumpkin. Of course, the jewel here is your mom's spectacular tablecloth. Oh my...sigh. Thanks for sharing another inspiring design and for stopping by my post. Cherry Kay

Marlis, this is sooo pretty! It must've taken a lot of patience to glue those nuts on to that tree, but the reward is fabulous! Love the colors, so serene and inviting! Beautiful!!

My FAVORITE one so far this week!!! To be blunt, I want everything on the table. Yep. Coveting. That's what I am. I would love a set of brown transferware, anyway, but with everything you have paired it with, it looks even lovelier than usual.

Can I say that I'm NUTS about that tree without sounding lame?

Probably not.

Marlis, your husband is one lucky man. How sweet to create this table to celebrate his birthday. I love every last detail and I think I got a whiff of rosemary! The nut tree is great--can you just coat the styrofoam in glue and roll it in nuts? :)
