Rustic Schumann Tablescape

Welcome, welcome.. so glad you are here.

I set this with you in mind. A bit rustic and a bit elegant. Who says you can't mix china with rustic elements like the grapevine basket or sunflowers?

Even the etched glass wine goblets are not out of place next to the hefty hand blown water glasses.

Once again I used my Schumann Dresden flowers. Still a few dinner plates short of enough... but I'm working on it as fast as they show up on ebay!

There are several different flower combinations available. Love them each, each and every one.

I gathered my lighter sage colored napkins into a fun napkin ring from Pier One.

Tip: For dining, reign in those branches so that they don't poke your dinner guests in the eyes! But isn't it more dramatic for pictures this way?

I pulled out my grapevine basket and used a variety of flowers stuck into a floral brick.
Tip: I keep silver trays, even those from the Dollar Tree, to place under arrangements such as this one. Keeps any water from reaching the table.

Even with the rustic centerpiece, I still pulled out the silver candlesticks, silver and those darling lenox swan salt cellars.

Tip: be sure to have plenty of Spanish moss or spongy moss around to hide the workings if you are are using floral bricks!

Thanks for dropping by! One of these days (after I collect some more plates), Cherry Kay and I are going to have a playdate with our Schumann Dresden dishes and do "sister" tables.. Stay tuned!!

Stunning, Marlis! I really love this table, with the elegant china and lavish centerpiece! It reminds me a bit of one of Bill's (of Affordable Accoutrements) tables. I'm all about the china, and your collection is gorgeous!

This is gorgeous Marlis. You are making me want to pack some of the good dishes and bring them to the lake. Would be fun to set the little barn board table with the blue and white spode. Hmmm...

Every time you show this china, I fall in love with it again. You must let me know when you are finished collecting all you want, because then I will be haunting eBay, too. I don't want to bid against you and Cherry Kay, but I would like to acquire a few pieces to accent something I already have.

This table is beautiful, and I love the mix of rustic and refined -- gorgeous!

Not only is the china pattern fabulous, but I love how you played it up even further with the centerpiece arrangement!!! Very nicely done, Marlis! I'm a big, big fan of mixing finery with more rugged pieces, and you did a fantastic job of marrying the two here. That basket is cool!!! It's really quite substantial! Great idea to hold onto silver platters and trays for catching drips. If the edges still look good, no one has to know if it's a tarnished mess underneath!!! :-) Excellent choice of napkin ring with all the colors of the flowers, too!!!

Yes, I love this china and Marlis this is so much fun to see this creative use of the rustic and elegant china. I must confess I have been collecting Schumann china for a long time. The first piece was the Dresden Flowers teapot in Denton, Texas then a few weeks later we were just starting a long trip and went through a little town in Oklahoma! My husband said let's stop and shop for antiques here! I said there isn't any thing in this place but what a surprise for a 20 piece set for an unbelievable price was what I found. I have been collecting ever since. I found this summer 10 reticulated salads for a song in Colorado Springs in the Chateau pattern for I have other pieces in it which I mix with the Dresden Flowers. Do you mix the Schumann Flowers patterns? I am enjoying viewing your beautiful tablescape and with your lovely wooden chargers! I am enjoying your collection! Pam

I have taken a few weeks off of tablescaping as our life has been too crazy with summer activities and I thought I would be fine without it for a while, but I do miss seeing everyone's! Of course yours is always stunning. I love the plates with the flowers and the rustic charm is perfect.

Oh my, I am in love. In love with your Schumann Dresden. I will be watching for those sister tables with Cherry Kay.
The rustic and elegant work wonderfully together. Don't we wonder if the kings of old also had a bit of rustic and elegant mix?
They (ain't) got anything on you lady.
BTW, I hope you had a spotter while you were up on that ladder.
Blessings, Ginger
