Snack time! Tablescape

Game will soon be upon us. Snacks will need to be served. Snack sets anyone?
In the summer, at the Coyote Cantina rooftop in Santa Fe, they serve homemade chips in these really cool servers. I've searched the web high and low for these conical pieces. No luck!
So this morning, I am reading the newspaper.. especially all the ads! And look what's in the top portion of the World Market ad? Do you see those conical "french fry" servers? I spotted them right away and then went flying down our hallway, sans broom, to the kitchen where my husband was fixin' breakfast. With the ad in hand, I almost lost my words so I just showed it to him, and his response was "Well, we will just have to go get some!" Now that is a good great husband. I've been dancing with joy all day long. Just search the web for French Fry holders and you will have soo many choices. Had I only known that for which I was searching! Just not those lovelies from the Coyote Cantina. But I'm happy.

So today was a practice for the "big game".

Started with snack plates...

I'm not sure of the age of this set, but they still have an ashtray in the lower right corner.

The cups are on the small side, however perfect for picante, other types of dips, or even condiments.

A small Wedgwood pitcher to serve the picante sauce is always helpful.

A red pepper serving dish is always great to have.

Brightly colored napkins (The Chile Shop, Santa Fe) corralled in rattan napkin rings (World Market) add color to the buffet.

Talavera pottery adds a fun bit of color and a bit of interest.

French Fry servers with inserts - both from World Market!

Filled snack trays.. now isn't this attractive?

Pedro says, thanks for dropping in. Your visit makes my day! Hope you've gotten some ideas. I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. You'll not want to miss all the pretty tables set just for you.

Marlis, I love those containers! They really cute, and they could have a ton of other uses, too. Thanks for the heads up. Love this colorful post, too!

How fun to eat treats from these cool snack holders, Marlis. Great preview for a party~ Ole!
At first, I thought they were old bed springs, which I guess, could be substituted for these! Just discovered there is a World Market store about 90 min. from us. I used to shop at one in Cali. I see a road trip in the near future. :-)
I have a ton of glass snack trays, but none with a built-in ashtray. Eeewww.... Who would want to have ashes near one's food?
Thanks for sharing this with us.

What an adorable post and I LOVE that vintage glass set of yours. The ashtray corner with the holder would be great for a spoon/fork/or little knife rest...I have never seen a set like that... Thank you for the link to World Class, I had tried to find it BUT my server was only pointing my at grocery stores...
Hugs to you,
Donna

Looks like you just might be having quite a Super Bowl party and what great things you have to work with. Did some of these come from last year's trip to Santa Fe?
Have fun and hope your team wins!
BTW, thanks very much for your kind comment about the prayer shawl.

Those are just the cutest little holders! You have made such a festive little snack station.

I just scrolled down to your previous post. How did I miss that? Tablecloths...right up my alley! I was intrigued by your order of organizing your huge supply. Very interesting to say the least! What a selection you have! Very fun.

What a wonderful mix of new and vintage. Love the use of the snack set in a modern way. I was told the ash tray was a thumb holder to balance the plate in your lap at a luncheon. Your pinkie probably was in the up position...lol...

Marlis: Love the snack holders and the glassware too, what a great combination of old and new. Your snack station looks colorful and yummy too. I think I might have to mosey on over to World Market and pick up a few of the snack holders, thanks so much for the tip.

As soon as it thaws, I am going to go to World Mkt. I love those holders.

Wonderful post, Marlis!

I love those too, and have been looking. I found something to use instead, but I want those! No World Market in NY though!
Your Mexican man would make a great centerpiece for Cinco de Mayo!
Great snack sets. I had a few, but when we moved I gave them away! Who knew?? :)

Love those French Fry holders! Still chuckling at "flying down our hallway, sans broom"... I hope to fly over to World Market tomorrow, thanks for pointing me in the right direction :-)

Those totally rock!!! I have a 10% off coupon for World Market that was sent to me online. I wish I would have known you were going. I would have forwarded the coupon to you!!! We just spent all our money on a stupid snow blade for the tractor, so I won't be buying anything new for awhile. :-( Somebody needs to use this bad boy before it expires!!! I REALLY like that red pepper serving dish! Cool! And don't you love it when husbands understand the NEED to get certain things? All is right with the world when that happens! Hey...I don't get it. I became a follower of your blog, but I'm not getting an email when you post. What did I do wrong? As for the epergnes, I have sold a couple of them, but they are terribly expensive which is why I've been cool with keeping them. I bought them wholesale for $295 but sold 2 of them for $100 ea. plus shipping so I'm actually down to 12. I figure I can use them for my stepdaughter's wedding...if ever! :-) Someday I may use them again with the candle lamps (with softly pleated silk shades) that came with them. Anyhoooo....gotta run. LOVE your snack attack table! Enjoy the game on Sunday!

Marlis, you have so many wonderful and unusual pieces on this table! Yes, everyone needs a red pepper server, especially one with a handle from the spoon! And I would love those french fry holders! So many neat uses for those! I never knew that those corners on the snack dishes were for cigarettes! Guess I have no experience there! Have fun cheering your team on! Love your table. Linda

There are just so many good ideas in this post Marlis! You are so clever to put dip into the mugs with the snack set. I've never thought of doing that, but I'm going to be borrowing that idea for sure! Love the french fry holders. It looks like you are set for a fun game day. laurie

Well, I just love EVERYTHING you have here. I did not see the World Market ad, but I have a free coffee coupon burning a hole in my wallet and LOVE those conical snack holders. If we can hack through the ice on our very long driveway I've got to get there! I also love Talavera pottery and your little Sombrero-wearing man enjoying a siesta is great. What fun!

Your glass wear looks like my candle wicking glass pieces.

What a fun post to read! I love your french fry holders, but ESPECIALLY love your snack sets. Just gorgeous -- cigarette holder and all! My son who just got married had similar wire holders and the papers on their wedding registry at Crate and Barrel -- they love using them!

Hi, Marlis! Thanks for stopping by this morning. The Garden Friends Bible study has been meeting for about twenty-five years. We initially formed when a friend lost her son in a motorcycle accident, and we've been studying the Word ever since. They are my dearest friends. You can read a little more about them in my profile. Thanks for asking. Cherry Kay

Oh, what fun! You are all set for such a celebration! My best friend has those snack sets. Between she, her sister and her mother, they have about 100 - ready for any celebration, no matter how big. I have always liked how versatile they are. I think a trip to World Market is in my future! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi, Marlis! Thanks so much for stopping by! You asked about my pottery. The blue bowls were from a street fair potter who unfortunately, I never saw again. Love those bowls and kicking myself for only buying 6 and nothing else. They keep the soup so warm all during the meal. The brown plates are from Bennington Potters - http://www.benningtonpotters.com/ These are the tavernware glaze. Hope you are keeping warm!
