A Valentine's Day quickie - tablescape that is

I've been absent.
So very sorry.
We are all alright.
Just a lot going on!

Not knowing what we would be doing on Valentine's, put me in a last minute rush.
It's the 38th anniversary of my husband's first proposal.
I always fix his favorite meal.
He couldn't remember what it was until 2 days ago.
He's old.. LOL..

If he couldn't remember,
I wasn't fixing it.
So threatened by a long line at a local restaurant,
it finally came to him.

This year instead of flowers,
he chose baubles.
Secretly, I  miss the flowers.
edited 2/15/12: Now this is funny. Our friend is also our florist and so he called my husband today and asked how we were getting along..... I'm getting flowers!!!

This week, there are flowers on the dishes.
After the rush this week and this coming weekend,
I'll have roses on the table next week!

In the last two weeks, I took a fall,
broke a crown,
and removed a hunk of flesh out of a finger.

We are planning on helping our son move back to Lubbock.
Regan was very ill (he's back to his chipper self now)
I've sucked the music off of an old iPod.

My new dishes ordered from OKL were delivered.
In perfect shape.

We've cleaned out the garage.

 Last Sunday,
we rested.
We tried to see how much firewood it takes to keep a fire going
all day long.

A much needed respite.
Just the two of us,
Regan,
and a roaring fire.
Watching it snow.

I hope your Valentine's was joyful and delightful.
That your dreams came true.
That you felt loved.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and he who loves is begotten of God and is coming to know and understand God. 1 John 4: 7

I'll be joining up with Susan for Tablescape Thursday (held on Thursdays now) at Between Naps on the Porch. I'll also be making an appearance at the Tablescaper's Seasonal Sunday. I'll be visiting this weekend, see you then!

You made me laugh when your husband couldn't remember his favorite dish! My husband is the same way, too! This is a lovely table, there's nothing rushed-looking about it. I love the salad plates. Glad you are back!

You were missed. I yelped when you told us that you broke a crown, and you're missing a chunk of your finger. I immediately was concerned about whether or not it impeded your ability to sew. Your hands are essential to your art. Loving meal by threat...I'm still laughing. The tablescape is gorgeous...as are your new plates. Personally, I think that we deserve fresh flowers every week! Thanks for inviting us for a peak, and happy first proposal anniversary! Cherry Kay

What in the heck were you doing to do that much damage to yourself, woman?!??!?!!! Were you up on a ladder? Oh, PLEASE tell me it didn't have anything to do with the title of your post today! ;-) I love those salad plates. They remind me of a vintage postcard or an English garden. So pretty!

Love the graphics on the salad plates and how the pink rose is incorporated into the design. Pretty goblets, too. Do I remember the story of the first proposal - you turned him down? Sorry to hear about your recent accidents but glad you are okay now. Hugs from Tennessee.

Glad you're back sweet Marlis! Your hubs so funny...they all are in the memorie dep. My hubby had coffee on my new vintage Bavarian tea set with cake last week and didn't acknoulaged the new set, at all! I'm glad you're getting the flowers and your tablescape is beautiful, so elegant with those gorgeous salad plates with the rose on it. I'm glad things are better with you after the accident, with lots of blessings, thank God.
Love,
FABBY

So long as it's veal chops, my hubby is happy on Valentine's. He's also happy if he never has to think about taking me out to dinner on that occasion. Sounds like you've had a crazy time recently. I join you with the broken crown and scraped finger!

Geez, I am exhausted just reading this! Sorry about your mishap -- no fun. I am a klutz and blind as a bat, so I injure myself far too frequently, and I do feel your pain.

I haven't seen your blog post in my email for a long time. I also am missing a couple of others, so I didn't know if you had all given up blogging, or if there is something funny (again) with Blogger.

Hope you are on the mend.

Resting and watching it snow with Regan in front of the fire sounds like just what the doctor ordered! I'm with Cindy~ I was so engrossed I had to go back and look at your table :) Beautiful roses on your dishes and soon to be on your table!

So happy to see you back and yes, as you know, you were missed. I'm happy to hear that Regan is feeling better. I'm sure some time at home with Mom and Dad (regardless of his age) will do him good. Your table looks lovely as always. I did have a good chuckle over your husband not remembering his favorite meal. And do tell more, the anniversary of his FIRST proposal?

I'm late because I've been away too. Mine is more computer driven, but I've also been busy. You have me well beat in the busyness, though. I'm sorry about your fall!

Love the table, as I always do when I visit.

Sheesh...I miss a few posts & I'm waaay behind!
I'm so sorry to hear about your fall & the broken crown (UGH!) and the cut finger. I feel for ya', Honey. Sounds like my tumble down the steps on Christmas Eve Eve with a glass vase. ER run= Stitches + x-rays + crutches, etc. Total bill was over $1000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you're healing well now. BE CAREFUL...I'm holding the hand rails more & more lately.

Hugs,
Rett
