Pier Inspiration tablescapes

Now don't these just look like fun. F. U. N. In capitals, with a bit of awesomeness mixed in around the U. I could see these outside on the patio. With some bright dishes, bright napkins. Probably pick more than one color. What would you serve in these goblets?

Not much shopping in Lubbock, Texas. Trust me, for a city this size, it's really a dismal place to shop. Not lamenting, just the facts m'aam. So, as I popped into Pier One this week (no not being compensated, just needing inspiration) with an open mind, a bit of time and my new phone.

And then I spotted these napkin rings. Chartreuse? Turquoise? Red? Twelve of each or mixed? You tell me.  What dishes? Plain white? Some with lots of color?

And these were on sale.. yep. beaded, white-silvery magnificent napkin rings. These would be as cute with denim napkins and white dishes as with wonderful china.

See how Pier One popped that red beaded napkin ring on the orange napkin? Love the joy found in these dishes.. Gotta love the colors!!!

And then there were darling bunnies, yellow dishes and this fabulous pale green feather tree. Do you have Easter ornaments? Or some for the spring? I think two of these darlings need to come home with me. And some bunnies too. So simple and easy to use in vignettes or on a table.

Still debating these dishes. Really having a struggle. Should I or shouldn't I? I love the scalloped edge. I cannot..... should not bring anymore dishes into this house. Notice those faux drippy branches.. wouldn't they be pretty neat in a vase or pitcher, brighten up a corner for sure.

Love the large elephant plate. I have no spot to put it, but the colors are fabulous. There were lots of less bright, more sedate items for those of us who shy away from the bold and beautiful.

And then I saw these. Burlap Bunny ears on a burlap napkin ring. And I loved the pale green crochet trim on the yellow check napkins. What a cute statement these would make..

Pier One
Just look how darling this setting is (Pier One website). I love the green plates and the lace. The rustic placemat, the cute candle rings.

Pier One
See how great the scallop plate looks in this setting? Cute birds, shiny napkin rings and napkins.

Pier One
I saw these white dishes also. Silver charger with the red dinner plate. On a white placemat with red flatware.

Pier One
What a cute idea for Valentine's Day! The chalkboard glasses are looking good. Cute frog.. ribbons tied in a bow around napkin and flatware.

I hope you got some great ideas. I know I did. Got the creative juices flowing. I'll be sharing over at Cuisine Kathleen's Let Dish and Susan's Tablescape Thursday. I do hope to see you pop in over at those great venues!

  1. Oh, Marlis, you enabler, you! I LOVE Pier 1 and would happily move in and just live there if they'd let me. I haven't been in one since before Christmas, but now I see a visit is a MUST! Those napkin rings and the scalloped plates and the gingham napkins -- oh, my!

  5. Marlis,
We should never go shopping together...for fear they would ask us to leave...because we could get into a lot of trouble just having F.U.N., dear friend!!!
I L O V E D them all...each place setting, napkin ring, bunnies (sorry, NOT the elephant),napkins, flatware. So~o~o...here's the question...what else did you buy???
I'll be back to see those adorable bunnies...soon!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  6. So funny - I spent a long time Monday morning at Pier I looking around! It was so much fun, but I missed several of the things you are showing, so thanks for sharing. I found a few things to bring home - you will probably recognize them, when you see them on my blog!!

  8. I had to go dig out my Devil suit and put it on before commenting. I want to make sure that I play the part just right. Here goes: Go back and get ALL the things you saw in the store that you liked. It's OK! Go ahead! Do it! You know you want to! There's PLENTY of room at home for it. Don't worry about that. (Ouch! Just sat on my tail. That stings a bit!) Go ahead...everything will be alright. You deserve it! Just think of how great it will all look for your tables! Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!!!!! (Insert deep, menacing, Devil laugh)

  10. Wow what a fun shopping trip you just took me on! Hard to walk away sometimes isn't it! I like that tree by the bunnies. I have some bunnies that could cluster around that nicely!

  11. I was just in there the other day and also admired the polka dot stemware! I think I could be happy living in that store :-)

  12. Hi Marlis,
I usually go to Pier ! at lest 1x/month just for inspiration, but unfortunately I end up buying way too much. Last time in they didn't have any spring, but it looks like it's time for another trip! I shall tell my husband it is all your fault! Dianne

  13. Pier One is a great source for ideas. I went in before Christmas and found myself snapping away which was a lot cheaper than buying all the things I liked.

  14. Oh Marlis! I have a Pier 1 gift card burning a hole in my wallet and you come along with this post? I'd have to have the scalloped plates and the burlap bunny ear napkin rings and the cute springy napkins...oh I'd have to have all! THAT'S why I haven't gone lol! Thanks for taking us along on your shopping trip but, what DID you buy????

  15. I love it all, Marlis!! I saw those burlap bunny ears in my Pier 1 catalog that I just received. Aren't they cute??!! That Alycia sure is tempting you, isn't she?? Those scalloped dishes sure are pretty, though, and would really be versatile.

  16. Well I can tell where I have to go tomorrow. Those scalloped plates are neat. I recently saw some great scalloped plates by Coalport on eBay...of course, I always seem to leap toward china or transferware instead of pottery. I used to have a service of Dansk Bistro, which I loved, but one day I got so tired of their heavy weight that I switched over to the English transferware, and I never looked back. I think that I may need some Valentine frogs and some napkin rings...definitely 12 of each color. Thanks for taking us shopping. Cherry Kay

  17. Oh no, oh no!!! I have been avoiding Pier 1 in my attempt to stop bringing goodies into my home! And now--those goblets would be great with ANYTHING in them, and the bunny ears are just so cute I can't even stand it!!! Maybe we could all get jobs there and satisfy our needs that way. Linda

I would have had a really hard time resisting several of those items. The displays & presentations were wonderful.
    LOVE the little bunny ears!

Thanks for telling us all about it.

  22. I love going into Pier One, but it isn't often I come out with anything other than ideas...y'all know I love the thrift stores! You do need those great scalloped plates...are you listening, Marlis!
I do like the polka dotted stemware, so many colors they would go with.

  23. Loved all the wonderful inspirational pictures of those beautiful tablescapes, I don't think that would be the place for me...I would be in the same place wondering which place setting that I must have...lol

  24. I think Pier One should give you a BIG discount for this post! I don't think I am the only one who will head over there because of you! Thanks for sharing, and I'm kind of with Alycia on this one. If it makes you happy, buy it!

  25. Wonderful post on Pier One and the tablesacpes give you so many great choices. The bright colors of the china are just beautiful and then the scallops on the white would be another choice. I'm looking forward to seeing your creative ideas. On a personal note, we were in Lubbock last week and delivered a cutie to my son. It is posted on my blog and I thought it might bring a smile or grin! Thanks for sharing Pier One!

  27. Pier 1 can brighten the dullest of days. I really enjoyed looking at all of these pictures (the bunny ear napkin rings were adorable!), and it's so much cheaper than going into the store. I never come out of that place empty handed.
