It's been the weirdest winter around here! My tulips are breaking ground. What in the world am I gonna do when the next freeze comes? Oh well. Snow? Non-existent. It's going to be a really bad spring with no moisture around here.
Today, I'm sharing our New Year's table. It fits the bill for Cuisine Kathleen's January challenge to create a winter tablescape.
I loved being able to find more of the snowflake chargers at Hobby Lobby this year. Previously only had 6, now I have 20? Yep, these will get lots of use.
I used two antique lace runners down the center of the table. And also placed the rustic hand-made box on top of them. Using the glittery, white jingle bells certainly gave it a fun look.
The turquoise glass plates add just the right bit of color to the table. Dinner is buffet style, so no salad plates!
I used fresh greenery, white candles, white pinecone ornaments, turquoise glass ornaments and large snowflakes in the box.
I love to use rock salt in the bottom of the glass hurricanes and set candles on top of the salt. Sort of looks like snow drifts in the containers.
With this many dishes on the table, there isn't really a lot of room for much finery.
Can you believe that the napkins have no starch in them? Yessirree Bob! I like to iron my napkins while they are damp. I take them out of the washer, stack them flat and then slip them into a plastic bag and iron them the next day. Using as hot an iron as your fabric, mine is linen, can stand, iron them dry. You will not need any starch!
Because the box is quite rustic and sets the tone for the table, hunky glasses were de riguer! The larger cut crystal came from the dollar tree. We use them quite a bit when we entertain outside. This time however, there pretty design which reminds me of snowflakes, graces this table to welcome the new year.
I also used more rock salt and some smaller candles in the swirly Cheers votive holders from Mikasa.
I've had these snowflake napkin rings for quite some time. I believe they came from Dillards years ago. Here you can see the different snowflakes on the chargers.
I even hung some crystal looking snowflakes and a strand of the same from the greenery in the chandelier.

Gorgeous, Marlis! I love the centerpiece, and those snowflake chargers are wonderful, too. The pops of turquoise are so pretty! I agree about our winter -- we're supposed to hit 78 degrees today.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the white jingle bells and a touch of turquoise during winter is so refreshing. Lovely as always. By the way, I can't believe that you found the water goblets at Dollar Tree. They are really quite nice!
ReplyDeleteMarlis,
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous Winter Tablescape, dear friend!!!
I love the use of turquoise blended with all the white and icy crystals!!! Those pops of red in the rustic box are just the needed element to take this dramatically "over the top" in your decor!!! Now, like you...bring on the Snow!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I love this. The turquoise plates are to die for! My Grandmother taught me to iron napkins that way when I was in 3rd grad and I have ironed them that way ever since! Beautiful table. Dianne
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, and appropriate for the frigid weather we are having here in Michigan.
ReplyDeleteYou've set a wonderful winter table, Marlis!
Pretty! Love the icy blue!
ReplyDeleteWistfully delightful, Marlis. It's a strange winter here as well. Freezing temps for days, then highs jump into the 70s. The trees and plants don't know what to think. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour table is wonderful in its icy details.
Very pretty Marlis...
ReplyDeleteLove the layering.
Love, love, love your table, Marlis. Such an awesome centerpiece. I would LOVE to have some of those gorgeous big jingle bells!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty table, Marlis! I love all the lovely details you included to make this table so lovely! =D
ReplyDeleteMarlis, I love your wintry table. The idea of using rock salt in the hurricanes is great! Those chargers from HB are perfect. You'll be prepared for lots of guests. I really love the lacy runners under your rustic box, too. Great attention to detail. We had temps in the 70's today... bet you did, too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Marlis. The centerpiece is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to find more of the snowflake chargers!!! I saw them at Hobby Lobby this year, too. I thought they were really cute, but I'm still on a buying hiatus. Boo! :-( This is really pretty, Marlis. I love the way you incorporated a bright yet icy color to really bring the table to life. I hope your tulips don't suffer bad consequences. This weird weather is just making trying to grow anything impossible. We've only had 2 significant snow events this winter, and that's not nearly enough to catch up on moisture. Have a good night!
ReplyDeleteA perfect beginning for Cuisine Kathleen's Winter Challenge! If you happen to miss those turquoise glass plates, it's because I have absconded with them. Oh, my...the places that I could go with those. The tablescape is beautiful! I'm expecting the jonquils to poke up their little yellow heads any day now...always a surprise here. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI love all the aqua and white with the sparkling crystal...very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour winter table is so pretty! I love the colors that you used! Blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI probably walked right by those gorgeous snowflake chargers at Hobby Lobby. What a gorgeous winter table Marlis!
ReplyDeleteA stunning winter table, Marlis. I love the centerpiece and those snowflakes chargers are fabulous....Christine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tablescape! Love the turquoise and white. The chandy looks beautiful as well!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
What a beautiful crisp table setting. I love the blue, snow flakes, and bells. Simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour table is a winter wonderland Marlis. Just stunning! I love those snowflakes (why have I packed mine away) and your centerpiece is gorgeous. You really are so creative and you always give me so much inspiration when I visit. Happy Winter..........

Gorgeous! I love the rustic box, those chargers, the chandy, so beautiful! xo
ReplyDeleteMarlis, I LOVE this table!! It's wintery but so engaging that it feels warm! I read your story about the centerpiece box (so sweet), and I love what you did with it. The teal, I think, is part of what warms the table--it's not quite icy blue. :) Beautiful!! ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty Marlis! Lucky you to find those beautiful snowflake chargers. I loved seeing all your snowflakes, too.
ReplyDeleteJust a few days ago, I pushed some mulch & pine needles over my spring bulbs that were peeking up. I am so glad I did...we went down to -5ยบ!! Yikes!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful winter tablescape.
Warm hugs,
Rett
Wow! Your turquoise glass plates make a great statement! I really love how you mixed in a touch of "rustic" -- and the linen ironing lesson. You are so right! Everything looks really festive and wintery.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I know its a challenge to create a centerpiece that fits the bill when you have A LOT of place settings to fit on the table as well but you've done a terrific job! Those snowflake chargers are wonderful and the aqua plates looke great on them. Love the verse on your sidebar that says winter is a time for home - love that thought! Wish I could share some snow with you...we are in the middle of a huge dump!
ReplyDeleteDD
ReplyDeleteElegant and perfect for a snow day.
Blue and white with a touch of greenery looks pretty.the napkin rings adds charm to the entire setting...:):)
Marlis, I've said this before but I have planter box envy! I love the juxtaposition of the rustic wood on top of the lacy runner! Your large jingle bells add just the right amount of whimsy and a love the pop of turquoise from your plates and glass ornaments!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the cool aqua for winter and the chargers are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteCount me in on the planter box envy! What a statement piece and you have it filled so beautifully. I just love your table. Perfect for bringing in the New Year and perfect for today's challenge. The touches of blue are beautiful. I can almost feel a chill in the air. Unfortunately we have had too much chill and more snow is on the way! I would rather see it on your table and have the snowflakes hanging from the chandelier. Don't you just love to decorate the chandeliers? Everything was picture perfect as usual.
ReplyDeleteHi Marlis, I love your table, the centerpiece is so fun and whimsical. What a great touch to your gorgeous china. Love your blue and white, always a winner in my book.
ReplyDeletehugs ~lynne ~
How pretty everything looks -- love your whites and blues and that rustic centerpiece. We're getting a new "batch" of snow tomorrow. Then I'm ready for Spring! How about you?
ReplyDeleteHi Marlis, This tip about the napkins is fabulous! I don't mind ironing nice flat pieces like napkins and the result is always rewarding, but any hints to make it easier are always welcome. Your centerpiece of the box, snowflakes, and jingle bells on top of the lace runner is beautiful. It must have been a wonderland with all of the candles lit. Linda
ReplyDeleteHow can I not like this table when it is full of turquoise which, in this case, adds icy beauty. Speaking of ice, how is the weather out your way. In Houston, we keep going in and out of winter which makes for some ornery colds!
ReplyDeleteI love those chargers! No Hobby Lobby in my town - SIGH! Your box is lovely! And the $ Store Crystal is very wintery in this setting, yet not too delicate for the rustic theme!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! First the colors, and the chargers are wonderful! Looks like a winter wonderland!
ReplyDeleteLove the rustic look of the glasses.
Thanks so much for taking the WINTER Challenge at Let's Dish!
Nothing coming up out of the ground here, I don't blame them, too cold! :)
Marlis, I love your winter tablescape ..the rustic, yet elegant touches work so well together. Very pretty!
