Snow, Regan and a Flower Brick Giveaway

Good morning world! Well actually, the morning wasn't this pretty. The blizzard conditions had the backyard swirling with blowing snow, it was dark, overcast and so very cold. But in the afternoon, the sun glimpsed through enough to snag a pretty shot!

Do you know what a flower brick is? I had seen them, but then I found them at an estate sale. What a great get. Three Christmas ones and two of these blue and white ones.

This is what a Flower Brick looks like. It's a two part container, bottom and lid. The holes in the lid are to insert flowers so that you can easily create a pretty cool flower arrangement.

 Like this one.

When I lift the lid, you can see the stems poking through and into the water bath.. so easy to change water or snip the stems to make the arrangement last longer.

Leave a comment to win two of these charming Flower Bricks! I will place the order with Williamsburg Marketplace and have them shipped directly to your home.
Enter before March 5th. I will announce the winner the next day.
For a second chance, be a follower. Leave a comment that you are.
 Good luck to all!
Sorry, but shipping only to continental USA.
Linking to Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday!!

  1. Loving the "flower bricks" too, dear Marlys! Looks like kitty cat is also very happy with them and is keeping very warm from the winter wonderland. Lovely shots of the snowed garden. I am a happy follower of your great blog.."Ceative Journeys" and thank you for the giveaway chance. I have an American address, but I don't think I will win, caz I'm the FIRST ONE, lol!!! Have a great week.

  2. Hi Marlis,

I heard about the snow in TX on the radio today, but WOW, you were right in the middle of it! I have seen a flower brick, but didn't really know how they were used. Being able to trim the stems without messing up the arrangement is such a great idea. Stay warm! Dianne

  3. Marlis, those are fabulous. Perfect after your post about blue recently. I will continue to follow you & your informative posts. I love the backyard blanketed in snow - it looks so peaceful. To bad it is causing such havoc in so many places. Enjoy it with a hot cup of cocoa. Hugs.

  4. Marlis, we've had high winds all day, and it is cold again. Fortunately we didn't get any of the freezing weather. It's been like spring here so this is a rude awakening that it is still February. LOL
Love those blue and white flower bricks. They are gorgeous. Of course I'd be thrilled to win a pair of these. You've had me in a blue and white mood since your post. And now Cherry Kay gave us even more inspiration today. I'll be setting a blue and white table soon. It is my favorite combination. So classic.
Thanks for the opportunity at this generous give away. I've got my fingers crossed. '-)

  7. I have worked as a florist's assistant and done floral work for a lot of years, but I have NEVER heard of a floral brick! How dopey do I feel right about now??!?!?! :-) That a great concept, especially for putting a floral arrangement together quickly or for people who aren't comfortable with doing arrangements in a vase! The design is pretty on these, too.

What you got this morning is now moving into the Kansas City area. I fear for our old trees! I also fear for our rooftops with this much snow! There have been a few cave-ins from the last dumping last week! The snow looks all innocent when it looks like your 1st photo, but man, oh man....it's a sneaky devil!!! :-)

  8. Wow, y'all got a TON of snow, Marlis! I love looking at snow from indoors, so I enjoyed seeing your pretty pic! I have one of those exact blue and white flower bricks (didn't know that was the name!), so winning two more would really let me create a spectacular centerpiece on my long dining room table!

  9. Hi Marlis,

Wow, your snow is amazing! Do you normally get snow in your part of Texas? Not sure what the deal is, but the snow has pretty much skipped our little patch of North Carolina this winter. It's been all around us, but not here. Well, we've had some flakes, but not much of anything to stay on the ground.

I LOVE those flower bricks, Marlis. I remember leaving a comment when you showed them in December with your Paperwhites. I would very much love to win two, and I've been a follower almost as long as I've been blogging. :)

Thank you for the opportunity to enter the drawing, and have a great day Marlis!

    XO,

    Denise at Forest Manor

  10. I don't envy you that blizzard1 It sounds like the one I experienced when I first moved to Denver in 1983. They called it a 100 years storm! For a Southerner it was quite exhilarating. I don't know how many people pushed me out of snowbanks.

Flower bricks -- what a clever idea. I have never seen one either, but I would like to now!

  12. Well, I am embarrassed to death to just now realize that I wasn't signed up to become a follower! I've gotten your posts via email for ages, Marlis.

I have corrected that error & would LOVE to be placed in the running to win such beautiful items. I've never heard them referred to as a "flower brick" but it sure makes sense. The blue & white ones are just beautiful!!!

Thanks for such a useful give-away & for the opportunity to join in & maybe win, too!

Warm hugs...BTW, you have more SNOW than we do in OHIO! What's up with that???

  13. I knew those were for flowers but didn't know they were called flower bricks. What a load of snow you have! Stay warm!

  14. Those are interesting. Someone left me a comment about a lidded jar I had just displayed. The top has cut outs in it and she was suggesting I put flowers through the holes. Mine is domed rather than flat but it would world similarily to these.
You did get a lot of snow but I still have you beat by a few feet! LOL... You'll probably warm up to the 60's next week and it will be all gone!

  15. I don't normally see these anymore. They are very useful for flower arrangements. Two as a giveaway is very generous! Hopefully Spring is on its way so I can take advantage of using these! Hope I win..

  16. Marlis,
I L O V E SNOW...and I have been enjoying each inch immensely here on the Prairie!!! Spring Cleaning has begun with the kitchen so I can watch the falling flakes from the patio doors!!! If Regan were here he'd be busy watching all the feeding of birds and squirrels at our feeder...always entertaining!!!
Love the flower brick!!! I have such a time with florals. Never know what to put in the container to hold those buds in place. These would truly be a problem solver!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat
