A soft Sea washed around the House
A Sea of Summer Air
And rose and fell the magic Planks
That sailed without a care --
For Captain was the Butterfly
For Helmsman was the Bee
And an entire universe
For the delighted crew.
~~~A soft Sea washed around the House by Emily Dickinson
It's so warm!! No, it's really downright HOT!!! Outside tables are really wishful thinking
on my part. So the rule for the summer has been KISS - Keep It Simple Silly.
One tablecloth, 4 chargers, 4 napkins (aren't these by Tommy Bahama cute?), 4 napkin rings
4 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 4 goblets, 4 seafood forks, 4 placesettings of flatware
4 tea light holders, 1 large hurricane, and a hand full of seashells.
Equals onne quick impromptu dinner set in a jiffy!
Gorgeous. You table is relaxed and easy. The napkins are cute
ReplyDeleteYou've set a gorgeous tablescape and I love all the elements you've used to make a summer-sea table. The plates are great, the shell with the little candle is a sweet idea. The baby blue shell plates and blue goblets evoke the sea. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice end of summer. FABBY
Marlis, this looks beautiful and I love the blue with the white dishes. Makes me dream of sitting at the gulf listening to the gulls and the water lapping. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love it in a big way! We weren't in the process of a table with which I hope will have that same "feel", but we never got together to finish it.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about yours, but my absolute FAVORITE thing is the goblets. I zoomed in on them right away. I want some now.
I live by the sea and love it here. Your gentle colors and table settings are a delight! I just love the star shaped plates and sea shell theme.
ReplyDeleteMarlis, this is just super, super. Makes me wish I could float on that "Sea of Summer Air" Emily Dickinson wrote about. This whole ambiance is perfect. I love the linens, tea light holders, and those wonderful napkin rings. This table is a real winner! Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Your table is beautiful, Marlis. So cool, and relaxing you can almost hear the waves!! I love your stemware, and the decorative edge around the white plates is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Marlis! Your white plates are adorable! Your tablescape is so cute, love all the shell dishes. Everything is so pretty all together....Christine
Gorgeous! Love your pretty beach colors. You've set a wonderful beach front table.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous tablescape! I love the soft colors you used! I love the shell dishes!
ReplyDeleteMarlis -
ReplyDeleteI know you said that you threw this together on the spur of the moment, but it sure looks beautifully planned and created to me. If you are like me, the majority of the inspiration comes during those middle of the night sleepless hours, and then the execution is rather speedy. But, Really......,you had to be thinking a LOT to amass all of these beautiful shore items. I'm hearing the surf as I type. I've already revisited this a couple of times!
ReplyDeleteBlessings My Friend,
Ahhhhh, the sea, Emily Dickinson AND eating outdoors? You had me with just that lovely blue and as I continued to look, it drew me in more and more. I could linger over this table for hours and still want to come back the next evening. Beautiful, Marlis. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...anything with shades of aqua makes my heart beat a little faster. The dinner plates are gorgeous.
Another beautiful table... my daughter would love this tablescape, I'll share with her when she comes tomorrow.. with her love for the sea this will capture her heart. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteOnce in a while, you see a tablescape that takes your breath away. This one is one of those. First, I had never heard this poem. It's beautiful and perfect for this table! Love the soft colors and the unique touches. I'm going to go to Pier 1 and see if I can still find those napkin rings. Beautiful, Marlin!
ReplyDeleteHi, Marlis! I am SO slow getting around on BNOTP this week! It has been really busy around here. It is so hard to believe you got those incredibly cool goblets at at grocery store!!! They are really slick! They look perfect on that table and add texture. The dinner plates, too....magnificent, especially topped with the soft blue starfish salad plates. With the excruciating heat your neck o' the woods has been suffering, I'm surprised you could stand to be outside for even as long as it took to put one plate on the table! It has cooled off considerably here, but we have had some monster storms with deadly flooding. I hope you guys get some relief soon. Take care, and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty table Marlis! I love the dishes and the napkin rings are just too cute-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteMarlis,
ReplyDeleteWonderful tablescape. I love the beach and this setting is perfect for the beach and summer. Tommy Bahama -- too cute!
Marlis,
ReplyDeleteWonderfully relaxing! One would ever know the heat was an issue with these refreshing colors and your inspiring, thought provoking beachy theme! Thank you for all your inspiration!
Fondly,
Pat
I really like your white plates and cute blue star fish plates. Your tablescape is darling.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beachy tablescape! Love the blue starfish plate... they look so pretty against the white dinner plate and rattan chargers. The nautical napkins are perfect for this tablescape and my favorite is the stemware with rattan holders... thanks for sharing this inspiring post with us. Have a great week!~Poppy
You have cooled things off with this tablescape! Your collection of things to work with is amazing. Wish I were close enough to borrow!
ReplyDeleteWe had a big rain last night and I was wishing some of it to Texas. I think Houston starts water rationing today so my yard will likely totally burn.
Just beautiful. LOVE those chargers.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you be a part of Seasonal Sundays. Sorry I've been so delayed in visiting.
This is so soothing and peaceful. Like sitting and listening to the surf. Can I say, I covet those goblets. I know, that is not nice. They really are beautiful.
