Fall is in the Air tablescape

Fall is my most favorite season of the year. The nights are cool, the days warm. No dust storms. No hail, high winds or tornados. And I think it has the most glorious colors. And since this fabulous season is just starting, I'm easing in slowly... Oh yeah, we are on the new table!!

It is the best season for eating outdoors. Bar none. Of course, I'm taking you there with me.

While I was setting the table, I thought that using napkins folded and placed end to end made the perfect narrow table runner. I do love the way it looks, providing a wonderful backdrop for the sunflowers and candles.

I used my most loved hand-blown cocktail glasses for our appetizer. They are also perfect for a chilled soup. Then I pulled out Mikasa's gorgeous Daylight salad plates. A wooden dinner plate from Hawaii rests on top of the Mikasa Daylight charger. I absolutely love the color of green that Mikasa chose for this set!

I love how the wood plate gave enough definition between the charger and salad.

Both the wine and the cocktail have the same pattern, in different sizes of course, I picked mine up in Santa Fe, NM; however, I have seen similar ones on-line. Maybe Napa Style? Maybe somewhere else?

I feel so blessed when we are able to sit outside. We've done a bit of patio repair, reseeding grass, removing excess trees and just preparing for the influx of plantings that will happen in the fall and then again in the spring.

Yeah, I know, I could have avoided yet one more blooper.. can you spot it?

Both the lanterns and the centerpiece vase have the same look. These are offset by more sunflowers in smaller white vases.

I just keep reaching for this bamboo flatware over and over again. You know, at first I really wanted the lighter bamboo, but "settled" for the dark... Now, I'm really glad that I "settled".

Both the napkins and napkin rings came from Pier One. Both were on sale, of course at different times.

Thank you so much for dropping by. I love your company and hope you had a good time.

  5. I know what you mean about the flatware, Marlis. The dark bamboo is a great "go to" for so many tables! I bought the light and I like it, but I LOVE the dark bamboo and use it quite a bit more often. The light one is really more of a summer one, I think. You really gave the Mikasa dishes a whole new look with the accessories you chose. They look right at home ou there on your fabulous new table in the fall air. Great idea on the napkin table runner! What's the blooper in the photo?!??!!! I can't see it. It's drivin' me nuts lookin' for it!!!

  6. Oh, OK...I think I see it. NOT a big deal at all! I thought it was something really horrendous like Big Foot in the background or something! :-)

  7. I didn't see the blooper.

Every time I see those Mikasa plates, I wish I had them. They are beautiful. Your entire table is beautiful, Marlis!

We had supper on the porch tonight. It is the best time of year for dining outdoors.

The light for photography is wonderful during Fall.

  8. Wow this fabulous Marlis. I love the setting and the photography is gorgeous!! I don't know if you are having the same issues as I am with the new blogger. I really do NOT like the new interface. Much more complicated then the old way!! And I have found that if you just upload pictures, they are taking twice as much space then before. So I am now downloading my pictures directly to Picasa and changing the size there. Anyway, great table and I LOVE the flowers.

  9. Autumn is the most gorgeous time of the year in the USA, I always loved it, even when I was a kid, as I'm also a "Fall Girl", (my b'day is in Oct.) Your table as usual is gorgeous! I love your place set layers and the wooden plate is perfect in that dark tone, I like how it blends with all. Your centerpiece is great with the lanterns and flowers...I cannot see any bloopers, lol..The Mikasa plates are a beauty for all seasons!

  19. Unbeatable moment dining outside, this time of the year. I can't imagine dining in my porch on Fall? However, right now, I am enjoying the exotic weather. From Beijing to The Philippines and loving it.

    Happy w/end.

  21. Marlis, I love your outdoor setting! The Mikasa china is so versatile. Love the cocktail glass with the pretty pattern. Your table is just perfect for the patio and your photos making an inviting place to dine. I want to thank you again for helping me about World Market! I told you my son lives in Lubbbock and I sent him to World Market to see about finding in new bed. He went there and looked then he made a second trip and found a bookcase on for $78 marked down from $398. He called to tell me and was just thrilled. He said Mom thanks for telling me about World Market. He said, when I was younger I went there with you but now I understand what a great place it is to shop! He is the Sports Anchor usually on the weekend on TV and Chris Curtis is his name. You may see him at one of the TT or sports game just say hi for he loves being back in Texas and close to home, Dallas. Thanks for all your help and love your postings!

    Thanks, Pam

  22. Oh I love these color combinations! I am loving green for fall, and those are the prettiest dishes. How fun that we have the same tablecloth! I find WS so irresistible. SO great that you liked my Jemez post too! Sometimes I think that some of you are in my neighborhood more often than me! We were away at least once a month all year.
