I picked out my beautiful Mikasa Daylight dishes. I love their simplicity and how graphic they are. Perfect to help one feel cooler I think. Green napkins. Darker bamboo handled flatware. And the cutest bird napkin rings from World Market. I picked up what they had but I need more and they aren't on their website anymore. Drats.
I will remove the begonias during the meal, but don't they look wonderful with the dishes? Their green leaves and white flowers fit perfectly with Mikasa's Daylight.
Replacing the large pot will be a cluster of 3 smaller pots of begonias. Remember to pick off the spent blooms!
I do love these birdies.. And I'm not usually into such ornamental accessories, but I love how they are perched on the plates.
Using Mikasa Parklane for water goblets. Also used another charger plate as the underplate for the begonias. Certainly keeps more green on the table.
You cannot possibly notice that I missed putting a votive in the green holder seen here. Oops. They are the perfect color though, aren't they?
Now there is one there is one in it.. Whew!
I'm with Mary (Home is Where the Boat Is), who always shows us some of the best tables; quilted table coverings are the best. No ironing. It's hot enough already around here.
Just wash, dry and plop on the table....
I succumbed. Are glasses dishes? I don't think so. Do you? Remember, not buying dishes this year. Well, except for the Lenox in January, the Dresden in April/May/June. (Pssst.. I missed out on some Lenox waiting on the half price day this weekend.. oh well, didn't need them)... But back to this story. I hot footed it to my local Dollar Tree one evening after work and....
and....
and...
bought a dozen of the green stems.
And...
And...
are you ready?

Very nice Spring table. It really looks fresh. I love mixing stemware. The napkin placement is fun on those great plates! Sigh...we haven't been able to really eat outdoors yet this Spring for sure. Hopefully we will be able to for the 4th of July....
ReplyDeleteBetween the cottonwoods and the wind we haven't been able to eat outside yet. Your dishes are perfect for the last days of spring! No, glasses are not dishes lol! At least that's what I have convinced Mr. B into thinking! If I see any of the napkin rings at my local Cost Plus, I could pick up more for you if you'd like? Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteMy Story Marlis is I don't BUY the dishes, "They follow me home"! and I'm sticking to it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE yours and they are as cool and refreshing as mint. Your silverware is perfect with it AND LOVE the begonias to pick up the green&white scheme...
Our temps are going from barely 60 last week to 90 this week. I will need to get used to it a bit. I (((LOVE))) those napkin rings! I don't see as many napkin rings around as there used to be. Anything with a little birdie on it would follow me home, Ahem!!!
Have a fun week,
Big Hugs,
Donna
Lovely spring tablescape. I will be glad to see the end of spring and the start of summer!
ReplyDeleteDear, dear Marlis...you are the tablescape queen in my book.
ReplyDeleteI seriously can't imagine where you keep all of the dishes, and glasses, and linens, and napkin rings, and table covers, and silver...whew.
Anyway...I love your "end to spring" tablescape. The rich greens next to the white is lovely.
I'm not in a hurry for spring to end. I love this time of year, and could spend more time enjoying this season of birds singing, and flowers blooming on cool mornings around beautifully set tables such as yours.
Enjoy.
xxoo
You are fortunate to still be able to dine outside. I love your beautiful tablescape. Your Mikasa is a lovely pattern and the color is gorgeous. I love the way the begonias look with the tablescape, complimenting the colors. Pretty patterns for the flatware and stems.
ReplyDeleteWe have hot sticky days already, dining out has to be in the evening if at all.
Have a great week.

Marlis - this table with that beautiful green would cool off anyone in hot weather. The table is gorgeous and I totally understand how happy you were to get those Libbey glasses - my store had the blue ones! Wish they had stocked the green ones, too. They were a bargain. Love that Mikasa china - I have never seen it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteMarlis,
ReplyDeleteThis table has me green with envy! Lovely tablescape...the quilt is so inviting! Not every DG has the same stock...I've never seen any stemware as nice as those here on the Prairie! Great finds! We can't manage to keep the cushions on the deck furniture due to the extreme wind or the threat of rain! Guess there will be another year to dine out~of~doors! Until then, I'll admire yours!
Fondly,
Pat
Perfect table with all the beautiful green and white, Marlis! I don't know that you could have chosen better companions to your Mikasa "Daylight" than what you did for this one! It's fabulous! I don't think we're going to count the Dollar Tree goblets as dishes, and we'll let you slide on the Libbey glasses, too. We all have to have a little fun! Enjoy these last days of Spring!!!
ReplyDeleteI always say that I drove straight through Need about 175 miles ago...and my number is 24, too. I always want to have enough to do at least three tables of 8 on the back porch and 24 inside, too. I've built many of my former sets of 12 to 24. The MIkasa dinnerware is so outstanding. I don't think that I would have ever picked it, but I am charmed by it every time that I see it. I love the Hauser green...quite sophisticated, I think. We're still enjoying lovely days, too. I've been outside organizing my goat pit of a storage room in the garage. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you can still eat outside, Marlis. It's too hot here now unless you are swimming. Love your spring tablescaoe, the napkin rings are very pretty and so are the plates. Pretty color.....Christine
ReplyDeleteMarlis~ It seems like summer arrived here in April, rudely shoving spring aside! I do love Mikasa Daylight~ the green leaves on the white plates cool my inner thermostat! Hot or not, ironing is not my thing~ I'd rather weed, plant, or do 100 other things, LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour begonia with its white blooms is perfect at the table and I wouldn't have noticed your missing votive if you hadn't pointed it out :) I love your copper bird napkin rings~ I missed those, I'll check my World Market and let you know if they still have them!
Marlis, You and I are the very best advertisement for Mikasa! I love those pretty dishes! They are on my "most wanted" list. I first saw them on your blog!
ReplyDeleteYour table is a stunning tribute to the remains of spring!
Those goblets do go perfectly with your dishes. I haven't seen those bird napkin rings in our WM yet. If I see them, I'll let you know!
ReplyDeleteOh my Marlis, I LOVE those Mikasa dishes with the beautiful green leaves cascading down on them. The DT globlets go perfectly with them. The begonias look stunning for the centerpiece.
ReplyDeleteMarlis,
ReplyDeleteYour Mikasa dishes are just beautiful and I love your little bird napkin rings. Your Dollar Tree goblets are just perfect and your begonias make a beautiful centerpiece!
Thank You for sharing and Thank You for stopping by Plum Perfect and leaving me a sweet comment!

Very nice. I'm liking the napkin rings too. There is no eating outside here. It has been windy and very hot.
ReplyDeleteMarlis:
ReplyDeleteThis is so crisp and full of Springtime encouragement. Good for you for getting the quantities of glasses that you wanted. It seems that every time I set my mind to a large quantity, there just aren't enough.
- The Tablescaper
The green and white dishes are so fresh looking and the green chargers set them off as well as your pot of flowers. I have those green wine glasses too (and in blue) and even though they were $1 each, they look nice and are a great color. The tablecovering really sets everything up well and you didn't even have to iron!

Marlis, this is perfect as we say farewell to the cooler days of spring. The summer days are here in TX.
ReplyDeleteI love this gorgeous pattern. I know you enjoy these dishes.
Oh, how pretty! The birds actually look as if they are sitting in the trees in this one. I love it. I really need some new green stems because one of the ones in my set of four broke this week. I need to hightail it to the DT and see if they have any. I'll succumb too...
ReplyDelete(Your begonias look better than mine. I apparently need to dead head better.)
I love the cool and inviting feel of this table. Like Cherry Kay, I don't think I would ever have chosen those plates, but they are really stunning. I have the green goblets, too, and their color is so versatile. Happy last few days of Spring to you!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks cooler than the outside temperature is likely to be in west Texas! Since I love all things birdie, your napkin rings are winners.
ReplyDeleteHi darling, your table is so cool and refreshing. I don't recall seeing these gorgeous plates before, love the simplicity yet elegance they lend to the table. The napkin ring holders are just too cute for words. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Marlis. I love the way the light plays on your beautiful table. Love those dishes!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table Marlis. I love those dishes and your Begonias are perfect with the plates. The Dollar store is great for those stems.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Marlis! I'm loving these terrific Mikasa, crisp and inviting dishes...so fresh for summer, just perfect! Oh yeah, me too...dishes just call my name when I see them, they just pull me and draw me to them, even when I DON'T WANT TO!!!..(do you believe that?)Fabulous silverware, it is just the right choise, along with the lovely napkin rings and the gorgeous setting. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Thanks for on last Spring table. Looking forward to your Summer ideas!
ReplyDeleteThese Mikasa plates always make me sigh! You do such a lovely job with them. Perfect for spring - just the green and white. I know, I was trying to use up my spring flowers quickly for tables before they are all gone. I love the weather right now - not too hot yet and perfect for eating outside.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous, as always!! So glad I've found someone else who only notices the missing tealight just as they are about to publish their post!!
ReplyDeleteSuzyq
What a pretty setting. Love your begonia centerpiece. Begonias always remind me of my mother in law. She always planted them every summer.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this spring green and white table! Those dishes are lovely! I was in a thrift store the other day and I recognized some Dollar Tree stems. They had them priced at $3 each! I just shook my head.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely find this table/all the greens, etc., incredibly beautiful and soothing...so naturally inviting! How close are you to Houston? I'm going to be spending several days there in August getting Alexandra moved in to U of Houston and I would love to see you if you are anywhere nearby (I know Texas is big, though!) I'd love to treat you to coffee/dessert/hugs in real life!
ReplyDeleteLove/hugs/blessings,
Lana
Such a beautiful table, love all the green with the crispness of the white.
ReplyDeleteLove those dishes, so pretty! I hope you had a delightful dinner at this lovely table, it is very earthy!
ReplyDeleteI went to HG the other day and didn't buy one dish, or fork or glass! Maybe we should have a contest to see how long we can go without buying table accoutrements! Like a Dish Lent, lol. Thanks for linking this beauty up to Let's Dish!
Happy Father's Day to your dh!
PS
ReplyDeleteI have yet to find the green stems at Dollar Tree. Last time they just had 2 green champagne size. :(
Love your fresh tablescape, so perfect for an outdoor setting. The green pattern in the dishes is so beautiful and your napkins and cute napkins rings are lovely too. Great centerpiece to use for this setting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty and fresh Spring tablescape! the colors and the simplicity of it is just perfect!
