When flowers walk in the house.. what's a girl to do?
Quickly set a table for dinner!
Throw the old matelasse over the table.
Drape your favorite shawl over the matelasse.
Plop the chenille pillows in the chairs.
Cook!
Bring out the candles.
Add a smaller rose confection to the table for visual interest when sitting down.
Thank God for the perfect evening.
Placemat, white dinner plate and transferware soup bowl.
Use your favorite silver.
Bring out the butter dish. Really, butter is good for the soul!
A nice pot of soup...
I totally love this scene...

You make it look so easy, Marlis! This table is really gorgeous! It spells FALL without shouting, too. Love the idea of using the shawl -- I just bought one to wear that might look great with my wedding china!

ReplyDeleteI am truly enjoying your outdoor tables!
What a beautiful foundation your paisley shawl provides for your table! I love the mix of your bouquet of flowers and the height your vase provides! Your red transferware is gorgeous and I'm glad to know it's serving up butter :)
ReplyDeleteMarlis, what a romantic dinner table, and how romantic for your husband to bring you beautiful flowers. I love the way it looks like you casually combined various treasures to create such a beautiful setting. Love those placemats, and I always love a table set with transferware. Well done, as always. laurie

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet husband! Everything is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHey, Marlis! Before I forget...I didn't get your post this week. I don't know what's up. I've been a follower for some time. Maybe it's something weird going on with Google or Blogger or something. Anyhoooooo.....when those flowers walked in the door, you got BUSY!!! Walking flowers will do that for a girl! ;-) It's so nice that your husband brought you flowers that are really pretty with a lot of variety...like he took some time to pick them out. That's a good man! The table is beautiful...AS ALWAYS!!!...and your transferware is gorgeous. That IS a beautiful scene on it! I hope your part of Texas has found some relief. I just got off the phone with Ramon, and he said it rained there in Houston again today. He's back home on Friday. Take care, my sweet, and have a good night!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers! Gorgeous dishes! Are you enjoying being out in the cooler weather? Your table is wonderful! I love red for fall.

Love the Wedgwood Windsor; I'm about ready to pick up a set of Wedgwood Queens Plain. The matelasse and the wool chalis create a wonderful contrast for your table, and the flowers are magnificent. Walking flowers...what a great reason for a beautiful tablescape! Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteFirst, I want to thank your husband for giving you such beautiful flowers which inspired you to create a beautiful table! I love everything, but that is the most incredible butter dish I have ever seen! You really made it sound so easy, but I know it is a gift you have. :)
ReplyDeleteNot only is this a very, very pretty table, Marlis, but I love your post--just do this, and just do that, and voila, you have a beautiful table! I love it all, but the close-up of the red rose almost took my breath away. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tablescape, so happy in a soft fall way! I love your transferware dishes and the flowers are gorgeous! Hugs, FABBY
ReplyDeleteSet. Throw. Drape. Plop.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's the final result? That is simply stunning to me. The huge centerpiece contrasted with the small one of roses was fantastic. I am going to remember that the next time I want a tall centerpiece.
Yours in gorgeous.
The whole table is lovely.
Love, love, love your table. Thank you for listing the individual items at the end. I always enjoy this in a post. This is my first visit. I found you thru BNOTP.

Marlis, what a beautiful table you have set! It's an elegantly simple setting where one would feel right at home. The placemats are a nice grounding for the dinner plate and soup bowl. The transferware castle scene is a lovely one and one I love as well.

Gorgeous table, Marlis! A girl has to do, what a girl has to do! You make it look easy, even though even us, occasional tablescapers know how much work it is. You know, your transferware is showing again . . . I love it! And I'm with you, butter is good for the soul . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table, Marlis! You have put everything together in such a lovely way. I especially like the shawl. It sets the whole mood. I love eating outside!
ReplyDeleteMarlis, this is really a beautiful table. The flowers are stunning actually. Love the transferware and I need a soup tureen like that badly. My kids eat oatmeal a ton and I should start it it would drop my cholestrol 40 points. Joni
