Yo koso. A Japanese fete.

Welcome. Yo koso. It's time for some Japanese cuisine.

Inspector Regan has given his seal of approval. He also apologizes on my behalf for the picture heavy post. I did keep the words to a minimum!

Simple flower arrangements line the center of the table. I might have to learn Japanese flower arranging, but I think I go the simplicity down.

Tea cups inherited from my mother -in-law. they are beautifully made and match the dishes pretty closely.

I loved the wraps on the chopsticks, so made them removable!

Salad plate, rice bowl, soup bowl.

Rectangular plate, dip bowl and chopstick rest.

Hand painted napkins from Tokyo.

Floating candles in small trays of water

Tea pot with crackle finish glaze and gold trim.

Bamboo placemats

Time to light the candles.. added a fan to the center floral arrangement.
love the way the candles reflect in the pools of water

Players:
Dishes - JCPenney's about 9 years hence
Tea set - mother-in-law unknown origin
Chopsticks - JCPenney
Bamboo placemats - Pier One recently
Napkins - Tokyo, Japan
Mini trays - Fresh sushi dept at local super market ;-)
Vases, black marbles and lava rock - wholesale florist
Flowers - local supermarket

Linking up with the marvelous Susan's Tablescape Thursday's. Grab a beverage, find a comfy location and click the image to peruse the other fabulous displays!

  3. Every detail is carried out to perfection. I'm so glad it was a "picture heavy" post so we could see it all. I was trying to notice different things in each shot. I love those hand painted napkins the best of all, but the whole table was a treat for the eyes.

    GREAT job!

  10. I don't think I have ever seen a Japanese tablesetting on TT. Chinese, yes, but Japanese no. It is just lovely and is so enhanced by the placemats. Joni
